            ateo:
I apologies if my remark about 'crap' school has aroused many dissatisfaction.

But lets be truthful and get 'real' about it, if we do not categorized schools, then why there is such a common scene every year that popular schools are over subscribe even at phase 2b. Shouldn’t we parent just proceeds to the the less popular ones that do not require balloting.....???
Maybe some will labeled this as 'herd mentality' but I suppose every parent in this forum are very 'well learned' in knowing which is good and which is bad. So let’s dispelled the hypocrisy that all primary school are on level field.
Doubt anyone is being hypocritcal by stating that all primary schools on the same level of playing field, on the contrary, we are very much aware of the differences of the school but it does not mean that the less popular schools are \"crap\". It is harsh as they are not.

It is easy to dismiss on why parents aren't proceeding to less popular schools and indicating the \"herd mentality\" as the prime reason. As usual, are we pinpointing at something to blame?
            ateo:
For all those parents at phase 2c (s), most if not all are in a state of being 'a beggar cannot be a chooser' that is why many of them in this forum will preached on the thoughts that there is no such things as 'crap' schools. But I suppose we cannot defy reality.
think you could have missed the exact thoughts of the forum where most of them prefer to have a school a stone away from them and yes, you can't choose even if the school is going to be more than 2km

at the same time, you can't expect parents to pick a school more than 2km just because \"a forecast states the school is going to ballot\".
            ateo:
MOE has a common curriculum for all the primary school, but some will enhance it further while some will just do what is necessary and that distinguish a 'good' and a 'crap' school. I agreed fully that going to top or popular schools do not guarantee the success of a child, but as a parent, most of us do not want to deprive them of a 'chance'... (If he/she cannot make it, then we do not live with regrets...in life it is better to be not 'successful' than to live with 'regrets')
The perception of \"good\" or \"crap\" lies in your own but doesn't mean it applies to everyone. To clear your conscience, you want to live without regrets as be in a \"popular\" and \"top\" school, and even if they are not successful , it is ok because they can't make it. What if, the kid gets into the school and cannot make it due to the pressure, wouldn't any parent feel regret for placing their child into the school? I do know of a few who harbours that regret.

There will always be parents who wants the best regardless of their child ability, parents who wants to pick the nearest school but not able to get in due to the \"popularity of it\", parents who pick the shcools based on their child's ability, parents who prefers the BASC logistics...

to lump parents as whole isn't quite correct no?

:offtopic: this needs to be shifted to the opinions of primary school registration thread . Mods Help!

My P2C(S) may need ballot again. Excess of 3 applicants. Anyone here registered for Horizon Pri in P2C(S)?? We are in the same boat…hopefully we can manage to reach the shore.

I called school juz now asking abt the the situation of p2c supp reg, as in the total applicants so far but the staff told me they cannot reveal coz it's MOE's policy, like tat one meh?

Actually it depends on school. I called up Yumin primary quite a few times for updated vacancies, they are very helpful. I didn't want to take the risk of going through balloting again.
Unlike the other school I called yesterday refused to tell me and told me to refer to moe website.

                      Yishun Primary School...

Congrats poppy. My ds got into my second choice school for 2c sup too. I purposely go at last hour to register, in case risk of balloting I can quickly go to another school immediately. My heart can't take another round of balloting!
Worth rejoicing. Now we can truly set our minds at rest. I have been fidgety for a whole week.
