if any adjustment will be upward not lowering, in order to free up vacancies for the WL
but lowering the cop also not so right lah ...but hope after some of the CO given up by some kids and replaced by the next WLs on line..they will still take in the balance of those on WLs... hopefully that is what in their plan..then parents and kids on WL need not have to worry so much liao... :xedfingers:

Thanks for working that out, TREX8! It feels good to know that the disparity in GEPers & mainstreamers are not that great.
TREX8:
Tea session on 5 Aug - attended by about 100 girls (majority GEP, counted only 2 from mainstream).
Tea session on 12 Aug - attended by 104 mainstreamers
Therefore, confirmed offer given to about 204 girls (maybe some absentees or decided not to turn up since already have COs from other schools).
My impression was that most of the girls for the first tea session also have CO from rgs. Assuming equal split between NYGH and RGS, then maybe about 50 girls on WL would get a CO from NYGH eventually.cestmoi:
Hi Pinky88, at NYGH tea reception, Mdm Heng was saying that the sch received up to 1000 applications but only 210 places allocated to DSA. So again, she has urged the parents/dd to let her know early if they are not taking the offer so that the place can be given to WL.
In addition to the above, I hv counted abt 104 mainstreamers today (seated in 26x4 rows) NY pri sch has the most nbr allocated with at least 10 students. The sec ones were v busy impressing on my DD abt sch ccas & curriculum. It's a knowledgable visit for her. :boogie: -
Dear Vanilla mum,
I really appreciate this info!!!
Just to share. My older girl reluctantly went into the SBC program in MGS. Throughout these 3 years, she has been given a lot of opportunities to shine and excel. In addition, from a quiet shy girl who has problem speaking in public, she is now in 2 CCAs, one of them is debate and being a lawyer is one of her career options.
We always hope to make the correct choice for our kids. To me, life is not all about getting As (though she did); character and attitude are important too. This determines if we made it or not in life later.
Wow!! so happy for you, your DD has excel so well! totally agreed with u that character and attitude are important too and thatβs why we always wish my DD can be in NYGS.
That said, i must say that RGS program suit some children too. During the opening, i saw many girls who are kind and helpful.
The only thing about MGS is they start their IP in 2013. Iβm worried about my lazy bum (younger dd) <sigh>
-
BEST WISHES to all going to for second round @NJC !! Jia you!

Hi vanilla mum,
No offence taken
. Thanks so much for sharing your colleagues' views on difference between RGS and NYGH gals. Appreciate it greatly.
So I must tell DD to be humble & δΉ δΉ. Most importantly.....must ει‘ΊηΆζ―.
All the best to your DD at NYGH. :celebrate:
Thanks! all the best to your DD as well, ε ζ²Ή for PSLE! :rahrah: -
Hi Cestmoi, my dd applied thru academic.
:rahrah: Great, vanilla mum! My DD also applied under academic. They maybe classmates next year! :celebrate:
yes! will keep u posted of her class next year. -

My personal guess is the latter because I don't know if RI has committed 50% of the vacancy to S1 candidates at the start of each admission exercise.
You mean they took places meant for S1 posting by adjusting the cutoff point to accomodate the WL ?
Or could it be they never fill up the entire 225 DSA places with COs at first, leaving some on WL ? -

I know! I went to the mail box last night and this morning....Husband thinks im going crazy?! haha! How not to??? Felt like im waiting for confirmation for a dream job for myself hahah!
Fruitteller ... Have you check your letter box? Good Luck!!
Postman brought 50% good news for us. DS was offered WL from RI. Better than rejection.
What is the chance of being offered a place in RI with WL?
Is there a ranking for all the boys in WL?
Does RI offered those WL based on PSLE result or SA1, GAT?
:congrats: to you. At lease your DS has offered a WL. Still there is chance. To what I know and base on last year result, RI offered those WL based on DSA ranking. The only issue is RI does not release the ranking position of those on WL. So it is quite difficult to guess. Also the number of students who awarded CO from RI and opt for other schools are very low. WL for RI has lower chance to get in as compare to other schools like HCI and NUSH.
A lot said that having a WL means a CO. I guess this does not apply to RI. Sorry, if I am too negitive.
If you do not mind would you let me know what is the result of your DS SA1. So that I would know where my DS chances. PM is possbile.
Thank you very much
Last yr, one of my frd's ds from mainstream was rejected for RI DSA. His ds scored 25* for PSLE, he appealed for RI admission and was eventually accepted. I think chances for those (esp. with SA >80%) on WL are pretty good......

Sorry for my \"blur-ness\" but what do you mean by lowering the COP (or upward) to adjust for WL?
if any adjustment will be upward not lowering, in order to free up vacancies for the WLvlim:

In my interpretation, IP schools can take up to 50% by DSA. If the total intake of the IP school is 450 yearly (eg. for RI), DSA places alloted will be 225 and the balance 225 is based on PSLE results.
For the DSA, there are CO and WL. Dependent on the # of COs, those on WL will be ranked and offered based on the vacanies left after the COs.
These 225 vacancies based on PSLE results will be dependent on the applicants. The one with the highest T-score will be alloted to the school of their choice and moved down from there. So, the 225th applicant who got in the school will determine the school's COP. There is no pushing of the COP upwards or downwards in this case at all.
I supposed the school will also allot a smaller number of vacancies for appeals, and any DSA vacancies not filled by CO or WL will also contribute to this #.
Please advise if this understanding is not correct. I really do not think the school has the ability to up or down the COP which is purely determined by the PSLE allocation from MOE.
