moonee:
hI KSP, I think yr kid really wants to show u what she can do at the pool, I notice a number of kids are some how very anxious to see their parents there. (not so much for other activities though) Its normally 8 lessons a year, at leat for the past 3 yrs...I agree with luanne quite interesting, some parents send their maid to help wash their kids as time is limited, Think yr grl would be overjoyed
if you spring a surprise visit at the pool.
I think next week is the last lesson as they cancelled their first lesson due to H1N1. If I can't make it next week then I can only go next year. -
Just to share what I know from another group of parents that students are usually quite good in EL, Maths and Science but not MT in RGPS. The main reason is most of them come from English speaking family.
The weightage for EL and MT are 100 each, Maths and Sci are both 50 each. So in order to score in PSLE overall marks they have to really focus more on MT. -

Oh they have swimming every year? I thot it's only for P1s. Wow quite shy if the bigger girls all shower together eh? -

Dharma, thanks for your input.Poonie:
Does anyone know what it takes to achieve 255 thereabouts in PSLE ? Are we talking about consistent result of around 85 in each subject at RGPS P5 SA1/2 and P6 SA1 tests? Or are we looking at 90+?
Hi Poonie,
If the girl is doing 85/subject at P5 then it is very likely that she’ll improve in P6 if she continues to work hard. 90+ for RGPS SA1/Prelim is likely to see her scoring 260+/270+ for PSLE. This is based purely on my observation when my older girl took PSLE.
My guess is that if she scores around 85~88 ave for Prelims with Maths/Science being the stronger subjects, then 255 or PSLE should not be a problem. -

The weightage is the same for all 4 subjects. -
Dharma:
But I saw in the PSLE T-Score explanation slide from NYPS that says EL and MT are 200 each, Maths and Sci are 100 each. (that works out to be what I mentioned earlier on)Hi KSP,
The weightage is the same for all 4 subjects.

KSP:
That refers to the total marks for EL and MT i.e. 200 each while it is 100 for Maths and Science. But for T-score computation, equal weightage is given to all 4 subjects. But I saw in the PSLE T-Score explanation slide from NYPS that says EL and MT are 200 each, Maths and Sci are 100 each.
