      Hi michyms,

Do you know if the P1s are using My Pals Are Here Maths for MCS? A friend would like to pass her son's P1 textbooks to me. Am wondering if I should have them. Don't want to keep too many books around. 🙂

      Tks for info.

Gin, I'm not entirely sure for MCS though I know many other schools use the Pals textbook.

Can the P1 mummies tell us which textbooks MCS uses?

MCS uses 'My Pals are Here' for Maths and the standard MT textbooks for MT. NO textbooks for English as MCS is implementing the STELLAR programme and uses their own worksheets.

Some gals do use trolley bags but might not be advisable for P1 as they'll have to carry their bags up and down the stairs everyday for assesmbly in the hall before sch starts. Just my 2cents worth. 😉
Okey dokey will heed your advice. Thanks

Yah, totally agree. I will have to condition my kid to get used to and liked packed makan.

Tinkerbelle, the idea that there isn't enough time to learn all the P6 stuff is really scary! Do you have to teach your dd alot on your own?

            Hi michyms,
I think this is a common phenomenon in all schs....having only a few months to teach P6 materials. The kids have to learn and absorb pretty quickly. That's why many parents outsource and send their kids for enrichment/tuition lessons during the Dec holidays to give their kids a head start. Very different from our days hor...

I do teach my DD but don't have to sit beside her. She'll usually ask for help when she needs it. Actually, to be honest, the maths is getting tough and I'm also learning about her work... Like I'm also sitting for PSLE....keke

Tinkerbelle, yes so different from our time, when I just study on my own and flip past year papers. Where got shah things as tuition or enrichment? Really pity the kids these days :gloomy: and though my girl us only going to p1, I actually feel like I'm the one that is attending primary school all over again, so I am sure by the time it gets to her pale, I will probably be like you, studying alongside her :faint:

Ohdaddy, i think if you tell you dd there will be more time to play if she brings her own food, then she will be more than happy to have that. For the afternoon session, think they would need to eat an early lunch before school , and then thee is tea break also. So gotta pack two meals?

                        Hi michyms,
STELLAR is a language teaching programme that helps P1 & P2 students acquire English language skills through listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Teaching is done through the use of the 'Shared Book Approach' whereby \"big books\" are shown and read to the class and the various themes portrayed in these books are explored. Check out this link to get more info about stellar:
                        http://www.stellarliteracy.sg

You might want to let your DD try out some of the fun quizes under \"Resources\" for Students. The kids usually enjoy learning as it's fun. Enjoy 😂
