No worries NdHelpParent,Hi Fairy,
Thanks...i just went to check status ...based on the status, she is not offered a place. I will break the news to her when the letter comes...now i have to think of how to speak with her about this and still keep her spirit high to try for it using PSLE.It should be easier for her considering her consistent excellent academic achievement so far.
Thanks ...finally i get to know the outcome.
She will sail thru PSLE and get into her dream school. -

Thanks thanks,...Congrats!

NdHelpParent, the online status is set by default to NO for Offered Place at NYGH, so it's not an accurate reflection of your daughter's status. Best to just wait for letter. Good luck!Hi Fairy,

Does anyone know how does a waiting list work in the DSA process?? How does one judge if your child has a chance of getting in? Should you choose the schl in which the child is waitlisted as the first choice for selection of schools post PSLE to get in.
Please help - i m quite confused here :?: Thanks ... -
harini:
If your child is waitlisted or has a confirmed place in a school during DSA, he will be given a DSA School Preference Form in October, during which he can indicate his choice of school. Say for example your son was offered waitlist in School A and has no other confirmed offers. He can then indicate School A in his Form if he chooses to. This form must be submitted in October.Does anyone know how does a waiting list work in the DSA process?? How does one judge if your child has a chance of getting in? When his PSLE results are released, he will be informed if he was successful in getting a place in School A. If he is not successful, he can then participate in the S1 posting exercise and select his choice of schools from there.
There is nothing lost in choosing School A at the DSA stage because if he doesn't get in, he can still opt for it again during the S1 posting exercise, depending of course on his PSLE grades. -
turquoise:
Thanks so much turquoise!! So if we choose School A (which was not our 'dream' school, but we did not get into any other schools) and get in, and the PSLE results are extremely good. Is there any way after PSLE results, opt for schools other than School A ? Hypothetical - but my son has been selected for a school of his third choise and did not get into the first 2 choices - so wondering if should take the risk of waiting until PSLE results or just put down the schl he has got into as a choice ... Thanks a lot !!!!

My girl got into our second choice school (her 1st choice) 2 years ago and we accepted it when we fill in the option form . However, when the PSLE result was released, her marks was extremely high and we convinced her to change to our first choice.
OK but there are some procedure that one has to go through. We have to re-apply on-line , paid $50 and she was called for an interview even though her marks was above 280.
Upon acceptance (they called us on the phone), I have to 'fly' down to the first oppted school immediately to indicate our request for withdrawal and let them signed on a form and returned that form cum information( MOE had posted everthing - her third language acceptance form etc. to the first school) retrieved from the first school immediately back to the second school as per the second school request ( to be within that day ). This is to ensure that my girl can join in the orientation with all other accepted students which is somewhere in December.
No Regrets - she is happy now in the second school (our first choice). -
I think no harm accepting now as we (parents) are not able to tell how a child will perform during the PSLE.
Some kids may go ‘blank’ due to stress while others may perform exremely well when under stress.
So to play safe, I think is ok to accept now ( at least it is one of your choice). If your child’s result is really good, then switch. If you are worried, call up your first choice school and asked them if they have the procedure for changes for children who have already accpeted another school in the option stage. That was what I had done . Hope all this help.
Good Luck. -

[/quote]Just wondering if there's a kind of value we are imparting to our children subtlely which is not very 'healthy'?
