Personally I find the questions in assessment books not adequate. Exam papers are most satisfying for me.

My personal fave assmt books are out of print- they are the 500+ series where there are mostly concept map based questions, according to topics. Phased out when the lower block and upper block themes were introduced.

Questions in exam papers are the true indication of what will be tested...if time is very tight, I'll just get my son to do 2 past year papers and copy the answers for the rest to be read.

I have several of those +500 series bought from Popular road shows...very cheap at just $2 a copy. Other than the solar system and simple machines, the other sections can still be used.

Basically those assessment books are not classified under lower and upp block...so you can actually see 'diversity (p3)' and 'energy(p6)' in the same book for eg. These books were written by Janet Sim, Helen Lee, Renee Chong, Mabel Cheong and even Henry Lee...good for revision at P6.

Don't think those books are avail anymore since they are phased out...I'm looking at those assessment books now. If I get my son to do those books, I will have to spend time crossing out questions on 'simple machines' and 'solar system'...would prefer son to read the FAQ instead.

Thanks, Janet for the tip about the Popular Roadshows. I dont have the p4 title, so need to look out. Currently reusing the dd’s for elder ds.

But I am not too sure if those well-known authors you mentioned had written them. The books I have, were written by Asma Mahamedi

I saw the Complete Smart Series by Fairfield BP- the author mentioned earlier is the editor. I thought it was abit too wordy, ikwim… Did not see the Longman Exam title.


Oh, saw a Process Skills series… cant remember the exact title. A possible inclusion to my set of science books. Will post details once I purchase a copy.
