Does getting a DSA CO at P6 into ACSI mean that you'll be placed into the IP classes? And of course subject to your performance, you can be re-streamed into the O level classes?

Entry into the IP classes for ACPS and ACSJ boys is also about 255 as I understand it.

If u r selected under IB, the child will place under something like preparatory IB classes. If u cant meet the req u will be pl inder o lvl track & vice versa....

they may state tt COP is abt 255 but given the relatively small intake & also the performance for each cohort....255 is merely a fig for gauging I think

u mean all sec 1 shares the same curriculum?


I was given the impression that they do very diff stuff even from sec1, but it's possible to switch beteen 'O' and IB before sec4 depending on results.

ACSI offer IP (lead to IB in yr 5/6) & O lvl track. During the open hse, they actually encouraged us to indicate tt we will choose O lvl track if not selected under IB as they said there is higher chance to switch to IB later on if the child perform well....

Does anyone know historically how many O level students or classes would be left by year 4 after all those who qualified for IB would have switched over?

Nebbermind, jtoh: Years 1-4 have both Integrated Programme and Express classes. Based on performance, students may be restreamed at any time. Your DS may enter the IP and be restreamed to Express to do O-levels, or enter the Express and end up in the IP. At the end of Year 4, both may be eligible to enter the Year 5-6 IB Diploma programme. The difference is that non-IP students must do well in O-levels and apply through JAE, while the IP students need only meet certain standards in their IP studies to automatically progress.

At Year 4, the O-level cohort is about 40% of the total, but varies according to demand. As MGS IP comes online, one would expect the O-level cohort at ACS(I) to increase to make way for the MGS girls, unless the overstrained IBDP is expanded at Year 5.

EDIT: sorry, to clarify, 252 was the median/mean COP. 245 was the lowest in 2010.

Hi Autolycus, I'm aware of this. My question is: Are all students who are granted DSA COs given a place in the Year 1 IP class? Or does the DSA CO merely mean admission to ACSI, not necessarily IP classes in Year 1.

Nebbermind, jtoh: DSA means admission to a school but not necessarily to a specific programme within a school. Generally (historically, almost always) however, DSA/HAST success means the child will be offered a place in the IP. DSA alone does not guarantee this, although with the internal weighting at ACS(I) by which selection occurs, it is very likely.
