also your own children can rub shoulder with certain celebrity/politician/uber-richman children!!

most of the time the children are blurr blurr don't know who is who

it is the parents - looking for bragging rights[/quote]besides bragging rights, think parents think that kids who enter elite schools will be \"zapped\" by all the energy and become smart 😆

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: So true. The idea that somehow placing your kid in a GEP school or one that produces a lot of GEP students will make your kid a gifted student.

fundamentally all of them are the same, curriculum are approved by MOE, books are approved by SEAB, teachers are approved and trained by MOE / NIE ....all are equal

some are perceived to be more equal due to long illustrious history where prominent people studied there before...(what happened to Telok Kurau English School?) and has strong cultural underpinning, compared with say a newly built / established school with zero history - everything and everyone is new

long history and prominent people connection is a default because in early days, there were not many schools to go to ! and it becomes a cycle these days

those schools set up by clans and churches and missionaries have always focused on academic excellence....but these days, every school has the same access to all necessary information and resources

If a brand new neighbourhood school were set up, but its Principal and teachers drawn from ‘elite’ schools, do you think it would be very popular? I believe so.

I was thinking of SJI International when it was first started. They brought in the Principal and teachers from UWC and instantly SJII had a strong reputation and enrolment.

                      My comments is this…

I have seen exam papers from "elite" schools like tao nan… and hence believes elite schools does makes a difference…

If they give such papers to their students and expect their students to be able to do it… then, the standard of the school is there…

I would want my kids to go to elite schools such that they are exposed to elite questions… to better prepare them for PSLE and further education…
