[Bishan] Primary Schools

How do you advice me if I have to move my place to register my kid in GYPS as the distance is too long from my current place? Is it worth considering GYPS in that case?
-
Hi pleasuremom!
Where are you staying now ? Which phase are you looking at?
-
I am from BT (ulu pandan) and already registered in GYPS in Phase2C. The other option i had is Pei Tong / BT Primary School. As the vacanices are still in the later 2 schools, I could still consider before Phase 3 starts. So just wondering how could I better decide.

Hi pleasuremom, does Pei Tong / BT Primary still have available vacancies?
Hmmm… No schools near your current location? -
Yes. They do have. there are schools. But not that convincing. Either I’m not sure abt GYPS.

Hi pleasuremom
Personally, of the 3 schools, I would choose BTPS. It saves you the hassle of moving, BTPS has many good reviews, do visit the Bukit Timah school's thread to see and I think they still have 4 vacancies left after 2CS.
IMHO, GYPS is not a school I would consider moving house for. The other two are on par in terms of standard I guess.
Just my opinion.
Initially I was considering putting my DS in BTPS because there are many international students and that's the sort of environment I like but in the end, I got in my first choice and seems like this year, there are almost no vacancies left in Phase 3 so not many international kids to speak of after all. So perhaps Pei Tong will take the international kids now around this area.
It all depends on what sort of environment you want but I think it might be a bit tiring for your child to travel from ulu pandan to bishan EVERY DAY. -
I’m thinking of PVing for either Ai Tong or KCP. With Ai Tong, my chances of getting a seat for my daughter is fairly low… maybe 1 in 3 according to the stats but with KCP, it’s almost a sure win.
Of course, i heard so many good things about Ai Tong but i am not undermining KCP’s standard as well.
Where can i find KCP’s PSLE performance over the year on the forum?

Hi Jennylkm09, i c an share some info about guangyang as my child is there! But as for ZhongHua, i'm afraid i cant help.
Guangyang is hmmm... a school that i would say an average school? I choose here is because i dont want my children to go through stress competition, as compared to those good and 'branded' schools like Aitong and Cat high. But here, is more like a friendly competition, teachers will motivate children to work harder, and children among themselves will also encourage each other to work hard together.
in 2010, they acheive Good progress school for PSLE.
I hope so far all these info helps. -
Hi mummyfun,
Thank you for sharing.
I have actually registered my son with Guangyang in the phase 3 as we are foreigners. Just came from Hong Kong in Aug after the school year finished in Jul 2011. Yes, we have gone through the balloting for the final and thank God that my son is in.
Notice that there are quite a lot of children from other countries. Korea, Philiphines, Myanmar, Malaysia, China.....
Hope that the school will soon be ready in Bishan as we live nearer to Bishan than Ang Mo Kio.
