      pixiedust,

      we forever same sampan!!

Like that I really must rethink my long-term plan... coz no hope I can ever take long leave just to make sure she do more...

Janet, yup, I must work harder... go through ALL the assessment books and select questions for her to do... 😢

So far am asking to go through the exam papers to identify her weak areas. Dunno how relible her \"analysis\" will be. Must spot check too... 😓

:rahrah: Janet, that's great news ! Understand your point about feeling good. I heard stories of boys who 'wake up' in end P5/P6....so let's continue :xedfingers:

Peony, sama sama lah....mine also only do things I pick out for him. The day he will go get worksheets out and do them himself, I buy kopi for all the P5 moms here. Don't get too stressed lah....how's the situation in her class ? better or still the same ?
Aiyoh...back to SQUARE ONE again...made me happy for nothing
I heard boys usually 'wake up' when they are in secondary school.
For my son here, I must take out the book and put in front of him...not because I want to spoil him but if he has to take the book himself, he will be asking me which book/title/page when the info is just in front of him  . Lots of time will be wasted.

Was told that their coming CA2 English paper is a tough one and that their english teacher will give them a treat if anyone can score above 56 /100 !!! Guest the most difficult section will be on the vocab. &
            comprehension.

Don't understand why the teachers need to set papers to such high
standard, tend to 'kill' the student's confidence?? Still haven't sit for
the exam & they are already 'giving up', :nunchuk:

              Passion88,

              Hence must counter the "pressure".

Since the school uses such hard tactics, we counter with support e.g. I make it known clearly to DD that this is the school’s strategy to pressure kids and parents so that they think they are doing badly, hire all kinds of outside support (hence booming tuition industry) so that when the actual PSLE comes, they do so well that the school gets all the glory and fame.

Harsh? Our coping strategy to papers that have reached ridiculous levels esp English papers at P5 that are way more difficult than any PSLE paper I’ve seen!!!

To counter the pressures, I also told her to use all CAs, SAs as trial runs for the actual exams, PSLE.

Oic, so now knowing that P5 English papers are usually more difficult than PSLE papers, thanks for sharing.

Yup had already told her that it is the school strategy of 'wake-up' call for the students & parents to prepare for the SA2 exam.

In mid year SA1 exam, it was the Math paper with more than 85% failed, and now English paper in CA2 so guess when comes to SA2 it will be the Science paper.

                \"Jia You\" All Students & Parents !!!!

                  Hi Passion88,

I cannot speak for all schools, but that’s what I notice in DD’s school. Plus her school has a good record for producing many A* for English.

OMG :yikes: if my son has CA2 and has to submit greeting card for Teachers' Day...that piece of homework will be daddy's 'job'. In fact last year when son had to design a CNY greeting card, it was done by hubby and colouring was by younger daughter...his teachers literally piled on homework everyday last year...if we didn't help him then, he would have to sleep very late.

Daily supplementary EL (vocab and Synthesis) worksheets are super tough now...even though some are MCQs, the options are so close and almost impossible to use elimination method :faint: What in the world is MOE doing ? Is it necessary to kill the students' confidence and motivation using this harsh wake-up call ?

My DD's self-esteem and mental well-being is worth more than her results!

Going back to Passion88's post: more than 85% failed???
What is alarming to me is more than 85% plus their parents are made to feel like failures?!!!

                        How I interpret this?
School super KS. Want to die die get plentiful A*!!!

Who prepares the kids? Based on DD's experince... NOT the school.

And we wonder why more kids are having mental problems!!
