I am registering my DD next yr 2012 and we are seriously considering the 2 options below.

Option 1 Register for Phase 2B for RGPS but we stay > 2km
Option 2 Register for Phase 2A as I am a old girls for Princess Elizabeth Primary (PEPS) or 2C as we stay within 1km.

From the recent P1 statistics this year intake
      - RGPS goes into balloting for Phase 2B >2km this year. Reducing intake next year.
      - PEPS over registered by 375% for Phase 2C. Risk of balloting only for those staying within 1km is high.

Really need advice from experience parents. As if we choose Option 2 Phase 2A, it's a guarantee seat but we will forsake our chance with Option 1. However if we go for Option 1 and not successful, we might run to risk in Phase 2C for PEPS.

Hi gekkhim, I think the option is pretty clear to me! Your alumni, less than 1km from your house, what could be better. Besides, PEPS is a good school and very well received too! If you try for RGPS and do not get it, and then end up balloting at PEPS and do not get in, would you regret it? You'll need to decide if its worth the risk. All the best, ya.

Agree that PEPS is obvious choice. If I were as fortunate as you I would go for Ph2A.

πŸ™‚ I managed to register my 2nd choice of school without balloting, can't complain as this year registration is scary! No one expect it

agree! as years go by, getting very tough!

for 2A – as years go by, anything can change.

                        2A most risky - are those residing > 2km.
                        2A and <1km, still safe.

possible strategies for 2A (possibly combine with 2B):-

a)\tshift nearer to <1km – if you still want to aim for that alumni 2A school.

b)\tif dun want to shift (for whatever reasons) – fallback strategy is: consider alternative nearby good neighbourhood school(s). means one spouse PV, perhaps another spouse grassroot.

in the event last minute suddenly MOE announce sudden change of 2A rules, at least 2As are not caught in dilemma. Then 2B kicks in. If fail under PV – your spouse grassroot becomes safety net ?
