MOE Test for P1

My kid had the test last week.
Total is 60Qs in half hour.
The purpose? No one knows. :lol: -

Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) will be testing on academic work like science, math, literacy etc.
Did you managed to get a peek of the questions posed?
DS re-calls back the questions and walk through with me how he derives his answers. It's not exactly a math question that has been touch on. More like iq test. Majority of the question only shows pictures like a few diagrams and he is to answer what is the next pattern. -

It reminds me of the aptitude test I had to take years ago for psychology at NUS. Needless to say, I couldn't pass since I didn't even have a chance to finish the paper.EN:

My ds had the tests twice at the beginning of this year. I was told he was the only one from his class & the qs were difficult, most of them were not even taught before for P1, such as fractions. He was asked to do the test a 2nd time, i think probably to complete the qs that he did not do & this time the \"teacher\" explained the qs.
He was quite upset about it cos he had the impression that it was an extra test/lesson as he was the only went. On top of this, he missed his chinese lesson twice & had to bring back hw.
I asked his FT & was told that MOE was conducting some research on the standard of students based on ramdoning selected students from each class. I found out that some classes have more students asked to do the test.
I think there is nothing much to worry about.

My boy in Pri 1 this yr was asked to take the MOE test yestersday. The format and questions(mostly pictures/patterns) are the same as those described by parents here.
I asked my friends/colleagues who have kid in pri 1 and none of them know whether their kids went for the test...puzzled!!!
Luckily found this old thread, so at least i know I am not alone.

a few wks ago, my p1 boy also took a \"pattern kind\" of test paper.
he mentioned that only 1 boy in the whole class could finish the paper. Not sure if he gave the right info, he said there are 60 questions in 60 pages (1 question each page) and he could not finish the last 13 questions.
really wonder what is this for? :? -
wah, i think my boy is the most blur one! He didn't even mention about this test at all!

My boy did not finish Sect E paper(left 1 or 2 questions unanswered)... Kept telling me question E11 is diffcult. Only a few of his classmates could finish all the questions. He told me its 1hr, guess from the other parents, think they were given only half-an-hr, so it was really tough to complete 60 MCQs(12Q each set; 5 Sets altogether) within that duration.hi alphonsus,

Since I've never heard of this test and boy is very sure teacher told him it's MOE test, so that got me worried...
Seemed like it's for some kind of research from other forumers. Guess nothing to worry about. -
Managed to contact his teacher and according to her, the test is to identify students who need additional coaching in their studies. Results will not be released to parents, not even to form teachers. MOE will only release the names of students who needs the extra coaching.
That means all pri 1 kid should have been tested, guess different schools may have different timings.
