2012 P1 Registration Exercise for 2013 In-Take
-
I feeling the \"heat\" even when the registration only starts in year 2012.
Can anyone advise the chances of getting a seat when we are already the member of the church plus PV? :xedfingers: -
which church you refering ?
another friend of mine only Methodist church, her girl P1 2012.
she went under balloting church affliation 2B at MGS, 8 am. she was one of the unlucky 4 din get. everybody’s child name called out, except hers + 3 others.
she tried her luck again at 2C. Towards the very end then they called out her child’s name. So she got in under 2C. -

Hi, thanks for replying. Mine is an Anglican church, member for few years. We are looking at St Andrew junior school. But staying more than 2km from the school.

Jess, in my earlier postings, I mentioned that those under phase 2b of SAJS will require balloting if you are more than 2km away. This year I think 60 balloted for 40 plus seats, about 14 didn't get in. If u want to try for the school, either move nearer or make sure you have a good backup plan. -

Oh gosh… Then we must pray very hard… The anxious and heart beating of getting kid into ideal school is killing all parents…

Well at least we're not alone and are all in the same boat. Let's find support in each other along the way.

hi Jessltz3,
are you refering to MGS (Bukit Timah) primary ?
for 2B - MGS don't have PV (parent volunteer) stuff.
for 2B - MGS only accept Methodist church affliation membership . And they come under 2B, because they are church members.
but if you're refering to Paya Lebar MGS (PLMGS), I'm not sure.
though MGS and PLMGS both come under the same great Methodist church movement, however each school's history was different, the way they run also different.
perhaps parents from PLMGS can help to verify this fact -
a) for 2B, do they allow PV (parent volunteer) scheme ?
b) for 2B, if they apply under church membership - must the parent worship only at Paya Lebar Methodist church ? what if worship at another Methodist denomation church, eg: Barker road methodist church or Wesley Methodist church ? can they still apply under 2B, or not allowed ?
Thanks for clarification. -

I have been taking this P1 registration very lightly until this year. I have never been bothered as I have been thinking to put my DS to the school which is just located next to where I lived. (seriously just only less than 200m away). But the situation has changed this year. The school is conducting balloting. I have never seen many children around my area beofre. Suddenly, there are many children applying for the school. My guess is parents are renting houses around the area. Is this legal? How long must they stay in that address before they can use them for registration?
My hub and I are thinking to put DS to our old schools. But situation changes again. There have been talks about change in Phase 2A process.(Thanks to our FTs and KS parents making noises in newspaper, to grassroots and to Minstry over this phase 2A.)
Isn't P1 registration is such an easy process? Just bring the necessary documents and register your child!! Why is the situation becoming so complicated? My parents had never had such difficult situation. Why?
because there were fewer FTs and the FTs around then were truly talented. They had the money to send their kids to international school.
Seeing the stressful situation my colleagues are going through this year heightens my anxiety. With more children registering next year and not to
forget PRs (God, know how many of them). Adding on to my stress is the fact that my DS has no sibiling to qualify for Phase I. In this year, about 35% of the children got into the school during Phase1. While in popular schools, more than 50% of children gone to the school druing Phase1. I'm counting down 11 months before the start of 2013 in-take registration.
I feel you Yellowbelt. My DD will be in P1 in 2014. I am staying within 1km-2km of St Hilda's and Poi Ching School. I'm really very stressed after knowing that these two schools require balloting for 1km-2km distance! All thanks to the FTs! >8/ My DD has no sibling to qualify for Phase 1 as well! Our parents back then did not have to go through the hassle of vying for places with FTs and PRs. I'm really anxious about P1 registration even though my turn will be in 2013.
My hubby is thinking of renting a place near to CHIJ Katong or Haig Girls'. Someone told me that renting is illegal and we need to bring our bills (electricity etc) during registration for verification purposes and if we failed to do so, we'll be fined or jailed. Does anyone know if it is true?
