          Champ!
I think Glass is hard is not acceptable cos that property is not useful here.Should be the material cannot be interact with many chemicals as they are using in labs.
I googled and find answer as follows,

beakers and flasks are used as they are much more efficient in laboratories, they are easy to fine, cheap, do not melt and dont react with anything.

                smartmummy,

\"Clay is a naturally occurring substance. Shaping it and firing it to make the shape permanent is a human activity.\" So, if it involves the \"human-activity\" then it will be man-made than coming natural from the ground.

This my 2 cents worth of analysis; for reference and discussion purpose šŸ˜„

                    champion,
if involve human activity, then there is hardly any natural material already ah.
my definition of man-made is like plastic, where the raw materials are not natural. but for cloths and paper and glass, the raw materials are natural, hence they are natural-occurring material.

smartmummy, any specific questions you encounter?
