JEI/PSLE Math - Discussion

Hi! Just to share. I am happy with my DD progress so far. I got to know this centre through this forum. Thanks parents for sharing. The centre manager , Rebecca is nice and helpful. Teacher Jasmine is good too. I find that my DD can understand what she taught her in the class well.

I sign up my P2 girl in Feb also based on parents comment in this forum :thankyou: . I must say the P2 programme is good. They squeezed in two programmes in 2 hours. One is JEI and the other is a worksheet focus on problem solving skills. They call it PSLEMath. I strongly recommend parents to check it out.

Dunno to see this positively or negatively. It seems their style is to update the parents after every lesson. And the teacher actually spend the time. So, its abit chaotic between lessons switch as you can see children going in out of class and teachers briefing the parents. At first, I find the changing of lesson taking abit long, can be like 5-10 min. After a while, sort of get used to it, and talking to some parents, they like dun mind, so I also keep quiet and be gracious :imanangel:

Hi mummies, can i find out JEI maths is similar to Maths Olympaid training or they are both different?

My kids are not in them but one of my friend’s kid is in JEI. I don’t think they do

Olympiad training but more problem solving. she says it is more enrichment,
for training in Olympiad kind of qns, she said Maths Hub was good. Her dd liked
JEI so she also sent for JEI.

Hi. Do they teach according to school syllabus?

My DD now K2, join them since K1. Similar to MOE methodology for the addition/subtraction/multiplication. DD not yet do division yet. They use number bonding for add/sub plus application of number bonding. Also have problem sums, patterns questions, critical thinking q. Good prep for primary schools.

For primary level they use a program call PSLEmath which focus is problem sums and heuristic methods. Pretty sure its also according to syllabus.

normal days they do syllabus math; no olympaid math. But I have already checkout that they will be doing olympaid for part of the Nov/dec holidays :imcool: . Only olympaid topics relevant to syllabus will be taught.
