yup, she hasn't even gone home yet. hope she can, this week. my friend has 2 older kids at home, but she has to make daily trips to the hospital to pass all the milk she has expressed to the nurses and also to see her baby. it's very draining.

      Haiz ..... same same lah.

But I was fortunate my grandma-in-law, together with her son, could take care of DS1 as I dare not leave him alone with helper for long periods of time. That way, I could stay with DS2 in the hospital.

I was forced to supplement breast milk with formula 3x a day ... one of the doc's inflexibilities because she was not happy with the baby's 'magic' figure every morning. I was fuming mad and she made me more stressed. She is not pro-breastfeeding. She even refused to work with the lactation consultants and my pte PD. After having a battle of wills with her for so many days, she subtly hinted that she won't discharge my DS2 if I don't comply. She recommended one formula, in the end gave another, didn't even give me the liberty to research and choose :siao:

1 and a half weeks after DS2 was discharged, I made DS2 go cold turkey and stopped the formula.

I do not know if your friend will face the same situation. Just tell her to perservere and not give up!!

          dear SAHMs,

the upcoming Sep hols are round the corner as well. however, due to special circumstances, the kids seem to have 2 weeks hols this time!

Election hol, hari raya hol, tr day celeb and then tr day hol before that 1 week break!
it seems they only have Wed as a normal school day right?

what are the mommies planning to do with the kids? or anyone already planning to take a trip out of the country?
We can't go out of Singapore cos father is not free.
Me,poor mummy bring them out often and visit around the Singapore.
I planned to bring them Sci and Art Musium.I am not sure how useful for my P3 son.He only insists me to bring there. We will visit Sci centre also.I can manage if indoor like these.Other than that I can visit shopping malls. My doesn't like to visit Shopping malls.
Does anyone visit Sci and art musium?

            autumnbronze,

Iโ€™m so sorry to hear your little one had to be hospitalised! Mine was hospitalized twice in his first month too. I was in pieces. Fortunately, the hospital didnโ€™t fight me about the breastfeeding, otherwise I wouldโ€™ve just sunk into depression. At that point, it seemed to be the only thing I could do for my childโ€ฆ

Glad to know your baby is doing better! Mine was a scrawny looking thing. He was not very plump at birth and lost more weight at the beginning. But now heโ€™s got thunder thighs and more spare tyres than a fleet of transport trucks would ever need.

              Hi MummyThreeStreams,

              Thanks :hugs:

              Gosh! twice :yikes:

It must have been so so tough on you!!

Both my sons were born under 3 kg. When DS2 returned home after delivery, he was a mere 2.5kg.

But I was/am not worried unlike the elders cuz their vital signs and development of their gross motor skills were/are good ๐Ÿ˜„

lol... all my 3 kids were less than 3kg when they were born too.

ds1 was bf only 4 mths. so he did catch up in the weight dept but not as much as ds2 and dd, who were fully bf for a long time.

ds2 and dd both hit 9+kg, almost 10kg at 6months.
like mummythreestreams, thunder thighs, michelin baby and lotus root arms and legs were some phrases people like to use on them.

but that's the thing abt breast milk... after the start solids, which is mainly more regular after 7month, they all start to slim down.

and when all 3 start running around after 1yo, and fall sick more often, they all become thinner and thinner as they grow older!

so now my ds1 is the thinnest, underweight already... sighz

                    same here. hubby no leave.

I haven't tried the Art Science Museum at MBS, if that's the one you're talking about? Any comments from other moms?

ooh, i like shopping malls as much as science centers but my kids hate shopping. so during hols, i've no choice but to visit places that are more kid-friendly.

jedamum, CCA for your kid the 2 weeks? Competition coming up is it?

Funx, oh yes, P6 kids have not much of a hol. but jia you! after Oct it's their turn to have fun and laugh at all the other kids in Sg who still have exams and school!
