ok, if ah yam got elected, can he teach us how to defer NS for 12 years ?

is this the first time it's ever been done? can they give us more examples where the application was successful? then those who have sons can start preparing application forms mah.

if ah lian or ah say got elected, will we see lots of confrontation with the government of the day ?
Thought ah lian say he is confident he will work well WITH the govt? if you want fireworks, go for say. But I don't think he will be invited to Star awards (I also know 2 others who may not be invited if they are pres).
      verykiasu2010:
and, if ah bock got elected, LHL got to look for new office !
maybe can work from home? big one lead the way, then will filter down to the rest of society, then we can have more work life balance.

:goodpost: I agreed..really cant find an ideal..but just bo bian and left with no choices...today heard from office..some of them rather choose to void the vote :siam:

Voiding the vote seems to be a \"cop-out\" mentality... Sometimes conditions are not in our favour but we just have to make the best out of what is served to us on the platter... Just my thots.

Yes. Even if it is a tough choice, I will never void my vote.
Else the one I don't want may just get in becos of my void.

It's alright to choose whomsoever you want, but DO make a choice.

So of the 4 candidates, the worst choice would be status quo, the others all have pros and cons, so maybe this can be a first step with a not too drastic change, anyway TJS is only 57 yrs old, he has time to simmer down a bit and be more grandfatherly as what many conservative Singaporeans want. I reiterate, conservative is okay, submissive is not. Else, better change back to appointed President and we can ignore all these points. But it is an ELECTED president to protect our reserves and to check on the existing cabinet, so we are not voting for a respectable looking ceremonial figure BUT pls consider what we are actually voting for the new President to do properly the duties as stipulated. - and it is not to be a yes man.

Actually, if you remember well, not many people voted for OTC 18 years ago because he was viewed as an incumbent who might be a yes man as well. His majority win cannot be considered as overwhelming, especially when his opponent at that time was so low profile.

But OTC had shown himself to be independent, notwithstanding where he had come from.

For all we know, TT or TCB could well prove the skeptics wrong.

In TOC forum part 2, TCB said something which, I thought, was quite meaningful. He said that ultimately, voter should trust whoever they vote for. If they do not trust any of them, don't vote for them.

Is there anyone who’s trying to make a choice by looking at his wife?

I did  took 2 out initially becos I can't imagine seeing their faces on the walls. But then their hubbys' words reinforced my views.

Sometimes I wonder if this is a beauty pageant instead - looking for THE Presidential face(s) rather than focus on what's at hand. Gotta keep telling myself FOCUS FOCUS.

Anyone going for the rallies?? TCB rally any news?
