CayennePepper, omgmum, you are amazing to breastfeed for so long. Sometimes I regret going on that path for my DS when he behaves so addicted to latching. It’s embarrasing when we are outside and he wants to pull up my top and makes a big fuss crying and screaming when he doesn’t get his way. He is only 15mths now. Did you face similar problems before? If yes, how did you manage?

        Hi fellow breastfeeding mummies,

I intend to purchase a new breast pump to replace my current one. I was recommended the Medela Pump In Style Advanced.

Can any of the mummies using the above model provide any feedback? How is it comparable to the Medela Freestyle??

Appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

        😄

autumnbronze, I used Freestyle so cannot give first hand experience on PISA. When I was buying my set the promoter told me the motor functions are similar. So in the end I bought Freestyle because easier to lug around in any other bag. But I did hear of people who tried both and say PISA suction is stronger? You might want to validate further on that fact.

Glad you made your choice 😄

Previously I used a hand me down PIS, than later I got the freestyle and I love it!! now, I even pump while eating breakfast or lunch, and I can walk around the house while pumping and have both hands free to do stuff! Also, I have never used the max setting for it either!

Does anyone have any tips for getting BB to sleep longer through the night? my BB is now 8 mths old. And still waking up at around 3 to 5am and want to play for at least 1.5 hrs, than bf before she will go back to sleep. I heard / read somewhere that some parents make their BB’s last feed to have cereal or formula… but I don’t want to intro formula cos I definitely have enough breast milk! Any suggestions? I am getting so tired waking up every night!

                Hi Robiq

Sounds that your baby wakes up thinking its playtime. The trick is not to let them get started on this habit but rather when BB wakes up to actually try to go back to sleep on their own without any help. Do u play with BBwhen he wakes when he was younger/Or is there a toy somewhere near him? If so, BB thinks that it is time for playing when he wakes up at nite. How did B fall asleep at bedtime? Does BB breastfeed then fall asleep on yr breast? If so, this explains why BB needs to BF again after playing. At 8mths, the habit is very hard to break. I made the same mistake for DS1 and when he is 6mths, I let him cried it out but very very heartbreaking for me. You may wish to start ignoring him when he wakes up, see if he can soothe himself and go back to sleep.

I make sure I don’t make the same mistake for the rest of the kids and it was a breeze thereafter when all the rest slept thru at abt 4mths.

northernstar, congrats you must be excited preparing for your baby's arrival. I have been using Similac and subsequently Gain IQ for my 2 kids so far. As you mentioned there are many brands and it's not easy to decide for the 1st time. You can start off with samples from your gynae or the milk companies and if the brand you try is suitable for your baby you can stick with it. Of course mummy's milk is the most tailored for your baby, so give it your best shot before trying formula. Wish you a good supply for your baby. 😄

                      Hi Breadandmuffins,
Yah!! BB plays with all her pillows.... etc, cos she views them as toys! hmmm... time to remove those from her room. And yes, BB falls asleep on my breast, after finishing a bottle of expressed milk. But once, for 1 week, she was able to fall asleep after feeding, with a story and slept through the entire night! Unfortunately, that only lasted 1 week! It is hard to do the cry it out method cos she sleeps in her crib beside me! (no extra room for her at the moment)

Just wondering.... but is there any other way to get her to sleep by adding stuff to her milk? And if so, what to add? cos she has never had formula before.

                        Hi all,

Juz delivered my bb boy. He is 11 days old. Trying to get this BFg thg right and havg a real hard time doing so.
I’m here to get some advice cos I’m so on the verge of gvg
up and gg to buy fm now. I call the LC hotline and they told me I dun hv enough bm.

I can pump every 3 hrs abt 40mls in 20mins or mre, but my nipples get sore.

But if I pump then when my bb hungry then I dun hv enough bm for him to latch on.

Nw he hvg problems latching on these 2 days. He will push the nipples out of his mouth and then try to furiously seek the nipple again. When I help to put the nipple in his mouth he will push and cry. Takes awhile to succeed and itz driving me crazy.

Wat shd I do? I’m afraid he win hv enough to drink. So stress.
