Singrish reporting!
-
Hi,
Singrish here. Just moved back to Singapore a few months ago, with 3 kids (6, 4, newborn) so we have the full junior spectrum to be kiasu about! Although non-Singaporean, I attended sec school and JC here and have very fond memories of my time (and education) here and hope that my kids will thrive here too. First step will be to see if we can get my DS a P1 place in Phase 3 tomorrow… -
:welcome: :rahrah: :welcome: to Singapore & KSP, Singrish.
All the best with securing a place for your DS in phase 3 tomorrow. Which schs are you looking at? :xedfingers: -
Hey Tinkerbelle, thanks!! We live in the East Coast so Opera Estate would have been ideal but not sure with 30-somethg places left whether to risk being balloted (they had about 40-something places last year and abt 80 ppl were q-ing up for Ph3), so also looking at Pasir Ris schools (Loyang, Meridian, PV, Coral) and further afield like Cantonment and Guangyang…

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that we had a very nerve-racking day today that thankfully was successful in the end: we have a place in Queenstown Primary School! 49 vacancies @ Phase 3, 44 registered.
We adopted the strategy recommended on other threads of not registering in the morning session, and waiting until the afternoon session before committing to a school that did not look like it was going to fill up and go into balloting.
Lots of anxious phone calls during the day to alternative schools to find out how many places were filled (some, like Cantonment, were willing to disclose but unfortunately they were oversubscribed anyway! Others weren’t willing to do so - one even told me to call after 4.30pm when registration was over!!).
In the end, we were one of the last to register at Queenstown and comfortable enough that it didn’t look like too many were going to come after us by that time in the afternoon.
Just glad that we got a good school and that this part is over so we can now concentrate of getting other matters sorted now.
Thanks Chief Kiasu and team for all the useful info on the website - we couldn’t have done this without you!
