[/quote]Don't be disheared. Studying in neighbourhood school is as good - likewise you mentioned, neighbourhood schools are less stressful. On top of that branded schools have many 'rich' people - more traffic jams,etc. etc. and also time spent on the journey can be quite tiring for the kids. When the child forget to bring things to school, you are unlikely to help bring them as the school is normally quite a distance away.
Both my kids were from neighbour schools and they did very well and they were very happy when they were in that school.
Both are in branded schools now due to their own promotion into them.
Neighbour schools are as good now. In fact when my boy was first transferred to one of the branded schools ( as mentioned in your message) , he does not like it that much and he long to return back to his old school . He said that the friends in his old school are better. -

Cos juz today i read an article in the Young Parents mag about a boy,Lim Ding Wen from Lianhua Pri who knows eight programming languages, created applications for iPhone and many more.... I'm impressed cos i dun even know what programing is all about and a 10 year old boy creates something from it!
Knowing Juying has robotics is great feeling. (i assume only sap sch offer such ccas.) Now, at least i know that the school will provides my son with some form of exposure on robotics as his dad and mum know nuts about it! -

I discussed this with my dh too. We felt that the boy got both his father genes and a good headstart as well. But despite all these, what's important is that the boy, himself is truly interested in programing and find joy in them! I dun think he'll perform so well, if he's been drilled to do it.

Just curious to find out from parents whose kid is studying at JY. I've heard from friends and colleagues that during their kid's P1 orientation, the school will bring the children to their classroom where they are asked to do some testpaper. I've received the letter from JY informing of the orientation on 20-Nov, but the programme outline does not mention anything about this. Whereas my husband's colleague who received the school letter, it is stated that the school will give the children a test.
Is this test practised in every school ?
Any advice on the list of books/stationeries to buy ? Usually they will provide a list, some school even have the list all nicely packed into one package easier for the parents. Just wonder if we need to buy all ? :?
