Hi!
Long time never online as work start to busy and having a new maid. This round I am quite lucky as i get one ex-singapore filiphino maid. She with me for 2 months and so far so good, although still always have some minor comments like she like to find excuse to cover another which make me furious and held a lecture session with her. I rather she admitted mistake then push lies around. But after that lecture so far is ok. will keep you guys update again in few months later.
Thanks for all the advice… -
Lucky for you Anna. I hope your new maid works out.
Btw, when you come home do your maid comes out to greet you? Or do the maid hide inside her room and come out only when you call her?
I find my maid is behaving this way. Its worst sometimes when the house is big and when you come home there is absolute silence. The maid hides inside the room and don’t come out. You don’t even know if she at home. Eventhough I m out for only 45mins, the maid thinks its absolutely alright to hide in the room.
I just want to know if this is normal behaviour of most maids who has worked long in your house. -
hi peapot,
My ex-maid used to do this. current one also won’t run out to greet me. No issues. I just want the work to be done, and if I need help, for her to come and not pretend never hear.
If she’s indo, it could be cultural. I understand somewhere that becos indo houses are big, the ‘servants’ have their own living areas and won’t be hanging much around where their bosses are. A bit like dobby-ish pattern I gather, not sure if that’s correct. -
Oh! it’s Indonesia culture?? Yes she is Indonesian, you guessed it correctly. Then I guess I have to live with it.

both of my Philipino maid won hide in their room. My first one will quickly open the main door for me to go in. Even they have finish their housework, they will still hang around the kicthen or dinning room (sit on the floor) watch TV with my children (normally around 9pm). I will allow them to go into their room when my little one sleep in the afternoon. That’s why i said i consider "good luck" already, both of them are good and no attitude problems. Not only me, my family members all like my first maid and even my daughter (5 yrs old) will pray for her. But what to do? she is typical "home sick" type.

That’s great Anna, I am not lucky. All my previous maids were good only the 1st year. After that, when the loan finished and they start going for their off day, attitude change. I don’t understand why it’s so hard to get a maid who will remain the same throughout the contract even after going for off days or having hp.

hi hquek,Hi omgmum,
you should have shown face to the agent and ask him what does he mean by meaningful amount of work that is just right, and maybe demo what you mean by banging around. if he is happy to see that kind of banging, then yes, it's a natural sort of rough. I guess the amount you pay him is lesser than what your maid pays him. but yes, to me, it's very bad service.
On the lights, good that you can see the fun of it. Have fun and take care not to blow any temper over your maid. It's so not worth it.
I did demonstrate to the agent how the banging was, and his eyes almost popped out.
No point asking him, cos he knows that I already have a schedule for the maid.
yeah, have to look on the bright side. There will be a way to solve the issue; if the maid really can't work out, then I will definitely just drop her off at the agent this time, no more second chances.
If the second maid doesn't work out, then I'll just change agent. I'm sure that in this big, bright world, there must be at least one honest agent, and one good maid that I can find. :xedfingers:
The good thing is, I've become a better cook because of his suaning! :rahrah: :rahrah: :rahrah: -

peapot, you are very tolerant!Actually there are all kind of maids around. Eventhough my Indo maid can be relied on to work but she is just simply too pious. Pray 5 times a day and then now fasting for 1 month. Because of puasa, she cannot handle pork and must use plastic glove to cut pork. During puasa month, the chicken she eats must also be halal type!!! Sigh, many restrictions. She scrutinised all seasoning and read the ingredients label and ensure that there cannot be pork or anything remotely found to be a by-product of pork or else she will not use in the daily cooking.
I wonder whether she knows not many employers can tahan her ways. -
peapot, have you tried telling your maid that you would like her to come to the door to help you when you come back?
I told my maid that i would like her to greet me at the door, because a lot of times I have my hands full with my girl and groceries. So she’s quite automatic most of the times.
