I believe what u have said . I heard that gep students totally have no time to play or enjoy their childhood , is that true ? If that is true, they ought to deserve dsa co or wl ..他们付出的代价太大了!!!
Definitely not my DS. He was still playing on the swing n watching tv yesterday when he has Prelims this week. They need a break too.

not really la..they still have some play time..But from p4 to mid p6 these geppers main focus is on the gep assignments and projects. Their common tests and exams are same through out the 9 gep schools..So cannot play play. These results are important for the dsa too.
After finish their last gep exam which is the p6 gep mid yr exam then they can really sit down and revise for prelim and psle .... So I would say quite many geppers might loose out to constant top scorers of mainstreams as from p4 to p6, alot of their time is used to tackle challenging assignments and gep worksheets and exams...
All in all, I am glad tt there is this DSA thingy to help them by scanning through the kids past yrs effort and performance in gep.

Not sure abt other Gep students. I make sure my DS has day off on Sunday, even when he's having exam. The work is manageable if they have proper time management. Though at times, he has to forego some computer time in order to complete his projects.

付出的代价太大, I guess this term is relative. Some of these kids if they were to stay in mainstream, will have suffer more. The curriculum does stretch them, but I can see DS was enjoying most of the it. Alot of effort is still needed from them, but I do see them much beyond other kids of their age. Putting these kids into GEP help to focus their energy to deepen their knowledge, which most of these kids took it as a challenge upon themselves.

Not true. It depends on the student and his parents - what sort of balance do they want? There are students who do nothing but study, go for tuition etc. Then there are those, my dd included, who thrive on activities outside of GEP and schoolwork. These are GEP students who continue to pursue piano, ballet, fencing, swimming, sailing etc. Some just for fun, others on a competitive level. I'm a firm believer in pursuing your passion, be it dance, music etc, as it allows you an outlet outside of schoolwork.

This morning just told my DH tat ever since my DS join GEP, he's more lively, cheerful, talkative, \"mischievous\" (my DH acutally use the work Scheming!!!!\", talk more abt his frens & work compared to when he was in mainstream. Think he really enjoys the prog. oopsss are we :offtopic: ????

Double congratulations on getting a CO from his dream school. :rahrah: :rahrah:
I wouldn't dare say its his dream school. It's the most realistic one lah. ALtho' must say it's rare that they even give DSA COs to their own affiliated school boys, so it's nice to feel wanted. I wonder what will be the outcome of the other school he applied to. Don't know have any chance or not. I think in all likelihood, he will go to CHS anyway.

So long as it's a school your son is happy to go to. Which is the other school he applied to? NJC to join his ge-ge?
