lolz. so treasure the moment while you can now.

i did notice that while ds1 likes to hold my hand, if his best friend is around, he'll 'fidget' a bit. lolz! grow up already ah...
Mine forbade me from winding down the window car just to shout out \"I love you ds & have a great time in school\". Opppssss...I'm a bit too much am I?

I did not go for the SA2 last year PTC for ds but did so for dd. This year SA 1 I went for ds PTC. I just need to have a feel what his teacher is like, give some feedback and just want to know how ds is doing. A must visit is MT teacher because need her pointer on how to improve ds MT. Happen to be my pal in JC so, lots of pointer received. For dd, I was not able to squeeze my time, so resort to 15 minutes phone calls airing my concern over dd and gathering feedback from the teacher.

Today is the 3rd parent-meeting session for my P1 boy.

Like the previous 2 times, again this is a very fruitful meeting. My boy did not do very well. We discuss the problem, then think of solution try to pull him back. The teacher actually remembers what we discussed the past 2 meeting. We are actually quite sad that my boy did so badly but feel better after talking to her.

Then we meet the mother tongue teacher, he is also a very nice teacher. Past 2 times he‘s very concern about my boy result now he’s glad that he’s keeping up. He then told us my boy is always alone during recess, eat alone or play alone. He asked whether he behaves like that at home or when out. Again, we discuss and hope that my boy will be able to enjoy school and open up.

        Overall, very fruitful meeting.

          Hi ctcc

My daughter is extremely quiet and shy too. The teacher helps by re-assigning a new mentor for her and help to group kids that my daughter will be comfortable with. These group of kids will go to recess together. The arrangement helps to pull my daughter out of her shell. I hope your boy will enjoy school and open up too.

Unlike most of you, I am not a parent yet but am currently a teacher in a primary school  Sorry to \"gatecrash\" into a parents' forum but just felt compelled to reply in this thread...

I just had Meet-The-Parents session last week with some of the parents (around 1/2 of the kids in the class). Generally I think it was quite useful as I managed to find out more about the kid's routine at home as well as the home environment...somehow I managed to understand why some of the kids in my class behave in a certain way (ie come late to school because stay up late to play computer game, talk on the phone, :x ) So, MTP session is not just for parents to learn more about the child, it is also for the teacher's to find out more about the child's life at home!

I issued consent form about a week before the session and asked parents to come on specific timing but most just came whenever they felt like it so I had a \"human traffic jam\" in my classroom at around 9am to 10am...and one of the parents went on and on for half an hour! I tried to stop him but to no avail... :stupid:

Welcome, worldangel! Don't worry, we love to have our educators on-board... this way we can grill them to our hearts' content

One way to get out of the \"late parents\" syndrome could be to set a timer beside you that goes \"brriiiinnng\" after 10 minutes. You can then go \"Oops... times up!... See you next time\".

Also state up front in your consent form that parents who are late for their slot will have to queue from the back of the queue. No such thing as cutting in to the next slot.

Place a rotan beside you to indicate the level of your intent on upholding your rules.

Haha I am happy to answer questions if I am able to...I am still \"green\" in my profession

I did tell the pupils that parents who came within the time slot will be given priority but apparently I was not the one who is controlling the queue number...there was a prefect giving out queue no to parents outside of the classroom so it is quite hard to tell her to give to parents who came within their time slot as she does not know that...

The parent who went on and on for half an hour apparently had not been attending MTP session for the past 2 years. So he had a lot bottled up within him...regarding the past teachers' weaknesses, etc. And he is those type who will see no wrong in his own child and he kept \"glorifying\" her when I fully know the kid is not as \"golden\" as he think she is...

That's interesting. How would an outsider be able to tell a parent the faults of his child without coming across as personal criticism? It is easy enough for strangers to ignore the behavior of kids in public, but if you are the child's teacher, you cannot simply ignore the problem.

I came across an incident in Popular when a promoter who commented that a kid was \"没家教\" was given a sound dressing down by his mummy who overheard the comment. While the scolding was way overblown, it is obvious that the promoter has erred in the manner she handled the situation.

wah…seems that many schools are having multiple PMT sessions.

But rulang so far only held 1 during end May…
I was only given a simple ‘report card’ last Friday which shows my son’s ratings (in terms of A -D) for term 3.
I’d love to have mutiple PMT sessions…

I never missed any of the MTP session when my girl was in primary. We always would asked for opinions from the teachers how to improve my girl in terms of academic and ways of handling things. In Sec 1, there was also MTP session. Again, we received many good tips and advices from the teachers. We also get to understand more from the form teachers about different situations which my girl felt was not \"properly\" handled. At least we get to listen to the other sides of the story and we would then explain to our girl.

Anyway, I am the type of parent who would call the teachers to talk when I have any doubts about anything, academic or non-academic issues. So far, all the teachers have been very helpful 😄 😄

Sorry Chief. Am thinking out loud - the promoter would never have spent the amount of time with the child that a teacher would have. I see this as a separate incident - maybe the mother felt embarrassed and \"sided\" with the promoter. I think the fault lies with the mother for not being objective.

I'm not a teacher, never have been. But I do get the feeling of being misunderstood by teachers!! The reality of how my kids are is probably somewhere in-between, and as long as there is a good working relationship, our views don't have to match exactly.
