Juz would like to check nush have no interviews, right? TIA!

NUSHS DSA is in 2 phases, selection test and selection camp. In the selection camp, where the students are split into groups and each group is guided by 1-2 assessors, to observed their conduct and their knowledge for each of their assignment. I would guess they are looking for attitudes towards sciences mainly during the camp.
The DSA for NUSHS is over, you are planning for next year?

Thank you. Yes, I'm planning for my DS next year. 😄

          hi Ms tay,

is it they cramp all the P6 kids in the school like that, or cramp only a handful of students including your son ?
They cramp only the best class( A class)
Including my son. Heard that they only focusing on the best class , while neglecting the rest. :slapshead:

              Hi,

Did anyone try under the asthetics route (eg. band, orchestra),etc... can you pls share the experience.

My ds did. Well, his only selling point is under performing arts. If he were a girl, I think applying for DSA under NYGH would have a high chance, bc over these past 4 years, I've been monitoring and it seems not too difficult to get DSA CO to NY under this type of CCA. Too bad there's no boys' school equivalent with similar DSA assessing process. If your child is in band, orchestra, ensemble, etc - just refer to the criteria listed by the school you want to apply DSA for. RI/RGS doesn't have DSA under CCA for performing arts. HCI doesn't either. Only schools like RVHS, NYGH, DHS has for performing arts CCAs. Note that for DSA, your child should be at a fairly high level of competence in his/her instrument, have exam gradings,
or even competition prizes and has to be a key contributing member of the CCA.

My DD applied DSA via CCA performing arts to NYGH and is under WL. Have to prepare 2 pieces for audition. For a guide, DD has ABRSM certificate, participated in SYF and is also a CCA leader in her school. Hope this info helps.

                  :thankyou: yukilei

I believe what u have said . I heard that gep students totally have no time to play or enjoy their childhood , is that true ? If that is true, they ought to deserve dsa co or wl ..他们付出的代价太大了!!!

Not true. It depends on the student and his parents - what sort of balance do they want? There are students who do nothing but study, go for tuition etc. Then there are those, my dd included, who thrive on activities outside of GEP and schoolwork. These are GEP students who continue to pursue piano, ballet, fencing, swimming, sailing etc. Some just for fun, others on a competitive level. I'm a firm believer in pursuing your passion, be it dance, music etc, as it allows you an outlet outside of schoolwork.

                  Well said !!jtoh
I really enjoy reading yr post ! :goodpost:

Hope so 😄[/quote]Should look out for signs of burn out and we owe that to our children if the school pushes unreasonably hard. Should push it back to the school if the kid is unable to cope exhibited by any sign of burn out. The school only suffer in a number, we have to live with our children after this set back for a long time.

Wow! night class? can save a lot of tuition fee ! 😂 I feel your teacher is super! I know some parents still send their kids for PSLE tuition/achiever class after school leh. Believe it is not every night right? P6 teachers nowadays are under a lot of pressure too, pity them. Heard of P refused P5 tr to quit and only allow them after they take the kids thru PSLE. Sigh, so pressurized for both kids and tr.

It is important not to over do else they may get burnt out before the race even begins. You need to observe how your kid take it or react to it.
