Im not sure abt the rigby pocket books, but i know they are reading some books with simple wordings. But i find the reading is not enough if u expect ur child to be able to read independently, just by relying on the reading done in MFS nursery.

If have to supplement it with more readings at home. I did that for my DD who is in nursery now. before that, she is not able to read even with the english literacy done in school. now with home reading, she can read on her own, esp on those high frequency words (and, the, it, etc)…

so, parents still need to do some "homework" with them, it’s the same i thk in any nursery/Kindergarten.

Hmm...so may I ask...wat readers are considred sufficient? I saw ladybird and robin readers....wich is a better choice?

im using lady bird peter and jane series(as recommended by KSP).. it works, DD is now on book 2a (many pages, we are left with 4 pages now), one page one day.. slow and steady ! u can consider this series.

pqy, my DD is at sengkang MFS, my DD class is is using this series, happymom08 also… i thk maybe they are using the same, they are following the same syllabus anyway.

Shirley, the reading habit part i started with DD at very young age, since baby time already read to her and everyday DH will read bedtime story to her.. but we never point the words to her,jst read , then we noticed that she can memorise the story but when we ask her to read. she cant read. That's when we started to pay attention on her reading.. we point at the words now.

KSP recommended P&J series, i've used this since 1 mth ago. and she is doing well. u can give it a try, i get the book from a mummy, who sells at 3.50 per book. they have series a/b/c.. u can get series a/b.. c is for writing.. each series has 12 books.
