No way! You do remember that I have close access to how a truly gifted child is capable of ..... in this world there are kids with almost photographic memory. Unless this child I'm talking about is the gifted within the gifted, then my ds got a bit of chance to be just gifted. Confusing hor :evil:

Ok if you really wish to explore the 'what if' scenario. Figurative speaking, if by the luck of the dice ds gets selected, personally I still won't find the incentive for GEP that irresistable and here is my logic.

I think the majority of the kids in the top P6 class in PH should be able to get around 260 at the minimum, which will entitle them to have the pick of the top IP schs like RI/RG, HC/NY, NJ. I think it's a safe bet to assume that someone getting selected for GEP at P3 will most likely end up in the right half of the top P6 class. So this kid also doesn't really need the DSA that GEP offers. Some parents say that at least the DSA is a safety net, but if the kid is being over-stretched in an attempt by MOE to 'upgrade' the GEP standard annually, then there is a very expensive price to pay for this safety net.

This is how I feel, and no, I still don't think that it'll be my problem, hehe.

Does that mean 'No' to gep? :evil: Like I say, you just don't know how MOE selected GEP kids. Some of Geppers can fail Math even in P4, u know! Personally, I don't think its their fault, they must have certain std in Math, rite? else how to pass thru 2 math papers and 1 math Gat. So u know, whose fault.....

So far I know of 2 boys whose have OM training are doing very well in GEP maths. So still thinking real hard which to choose school math syllab. course or OM.

I'm not answering that qn directly only because I'm wary of appearing pompous if I say that I'll reject something that is very unlikely to be offered in the first place. My house got mirror one, you know. Keke.

All I can say is that I'm very happy for ds to remain in PH for the next 6 yrs (ding ding ding ding).

I think end of the year P will invite me on stage to receive the 'Most Exemplary Parent' award. :rotflmao:

At least you started the training early, unlike Jen's case.

Personally I'm not that keen on DSA; I prefer to let ds depend on PSLE result. But now I'm hearing that PSLE maths exam is gravitating towards MO type of qn, which poses a big challenge for me in terms of time management (to send ds for MO training in addition to normal maths tuition). I can dig deeper into my pocket (anyway only one child to support) but I can't dig out more time.

I don't think you will need to prompt your daughter to revise...if she is gloomy and worried, she will be auto to revise on her own.

err..no my son started MO only in July this yr. it took me a while to agree to it as i did not want to add extra workload on him. in the end, i let him make the decision. it had never occurred to me to use the MO to improve PSLE grade because he is doing ok in school.
he said some of the MO questions are tough and he could not answer it.

HI Parents,

I checked with son’s Math tutor yest…she told me that Maths in primary school is moving towards heuristic/olympiad kind of questions. She told me she is teaching P4 Math for one of her P3 student…more popular schools are adopting that now.
