I was doing CA2 Chinese revsion with my DD1 and found out that P3 she has this as her 生字 😄

棵 as in the 一棵树 😉

So, no worries, parents from K2 all the way up to P3 (for my case here), kids are still learning 量词 😄 ...

I will clarify with DD2 K2 enrichment class T this Saturday regarding 一粒橙 or 一个橙 😉

:thankyou: all for sharing & I am learning too! :grphug: :celebrate:

        Add on:-
        http://i54.tinypic.com/13z33wk.jpg\"> http://i55.tinypic.com/ji2890.jpg\">

These are all the 量词 that my K2 DD2 is learning for this term; upload here to share with all 😄

Clarify with the Chinese T the usage of 一个 & 一粒:-
        1) 一个 = single / one only: 一个西瓜, 一个橙,一个苹果,一个书包
        2) 一粒 = a granule / a pellet: 一粒葡萄,一粒种子, 一粒米,一粒沙

Teacher explained that the above is correct for written purpose especially in Chinese Compo - marks will be deducted for wrong 量词use! 😓

Asked why we used to say \" 一粒橙, 一粒苹果\" etc...she explained that is normal daily spoken language just as like in Singlish! 😂

Hope the above is useful; I am also just \"aware\" of these new terms and am still learning thru my DD2 enrichment centre 😂

Hi Champion, thanks for going the extra mile to find out for us. So we must use the correct term when speaking as well or else kids will be confused heehee

Yes! So ironically - the stall below my DD2 enrichment centre is the fruit stall and there is a big banner with the wordings: \"三粒橙 $1.00 Very Sweet!\" So, DD2 whispered to me,\" Mummy, they write wrongly; can you ask them take down and change to the correct one?\" 😆 :rotflmao:

I think the yi li could be a direct translation from dialect.

:yikes: so we have been speaking Singnese all this time? I've heard of store keepers in Sim Lim Square calling their harddisks as \"粒\" in hokkien. \"Ah Ben arh... hor wah zick liap HDD eh sai beh?\"

                      By right, it should be

                      一粒萍果/橙 and not 一个.
Such forms of measurement should be taught correctly from P1.

一个 can be used for 人,书包,字.

                        Hi Janet,
Probably you refer back to your previous post http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=25110&start=30

Guess probably P1 they have been corrected and used 一个人 /萍果 😄
