phtthp:
When my girl was in p1, some parent came up with the idea of making n designing a big card so all the kids had their hands at it. Some made cookies for the teachers, others would go to the sch bookshop n buy a red pen, bookmarks, stationery etc...Teacher's day next Thursday ... curious, what kind of presents do you normally give to Teacher, to show your appreciation ?
the gift DIY (the child do it herself),or just buy off the shelf ?
Mine used to buy teachers day mugs or any stuff with the words Happy teachers day.
I normally make sure the gift does not exceed 10 dollars cos i understand that if its too costly it will be returned. I think a self made card would be most appreciated.

Do the P1 & 2 have remedial classes called LSP (Learning Support programmes) for English, Maths, Chinese ?
-
they have remedial , dont think they call it LSP. I think LSP may be for the vvy weak kids
-
oic …
LSP (English & Maths) for very weak students, Remedial for borderline cases to catch up ? -
I think Lsp are for those who are slow learners, remedial is generally for those who dont meet up to the standards of the teacher. My girl was in remedial for chinese in P1 the first month she entered rgps. Dont know about today in P1 as things hv changed.
Again in P4 she was asked to attend remedial in maths even tho her marks were high 80s. -
what’s the reason given by your girl’s Maths teacher to attend remedial, when she already got > 80 marks ?
normally remedial is for borderline cases hovering around 50-60 marks, need to buck up … -
Oh, It wasnt 80 plus marks,my mistake..... she obtained 90plus marks in P4 SA2, was this year p5 before SA1 that she was asked to attend remedial.... think the teacher has beeen observing her progress and found tht shes not quite consistent with her marks as she normally achieve mid 80s... the P4 SA2 paper was rather easy so her marks are not justifiable. Many obtained 100 for maths in P4.
From experience, those that score 70 and below do get to do remedial but again it depends on the teacher and her expectations.
In P1, my girl usually make 2 mistakes for her c/l spelling...surprised when dd had to attend remedial, her c/l teacher looks at her overall performance and not just the marks.
Just as well, she went frm remedial to high chinese and is still at it today. My thanks to this strict teacher today, she was very dedicated.

Faint!
P4 & P5 Maths are tough! Because there’s a huge quantum jump in Maths curriculum depth from P4 onwards, compared to lower primary standard.
you said - many girls score 100 for Maths. wow! rgps girls are so academically inclined ! Those scoring 100 - who are they mostly ? is it across the board for most girls, or mostly from GEPPers ?
anyway, those scoring < 70 consistently & are selected for Maths remedial, take how long to complete remedial ? half a year ? each week 1 or 2 hrs duration ? -
hi phtthp,
gepers has their own set of exam papers.
