More likely next year since it needs advance planning.....this year too late to plant for Teacher's Day tomorrow - cannot bloom overnight :rotflmao: -

:thankyou: LKVM for posting the link. i thought of replying micollh but read through the thread first in case others like schellen or autumnbronze etc replied. i know they are teachers too.micollh:
actually, we should ask.. any teachers here. what is the best gift (ok, being realistic, besides ur student's result) that u've ever received or wish to have ?
Mico see the below, kabby was a teacher before becoming SAHM

for me, heartfelt cards/ letters are the best. for younger kids who can't write so much, then i think a homemade simple thing would be great. either bake something together with the parent or make a simple craft or card with the parent would show your appreciation aptly.
doesn't need to be expensive. i think schellen mentioned earlier in tis thread, or was it insider, that no mugs, no photo frames?
I laughed when I read that cos it's true I received tons of mugs and photo frames before too. Too many I had to store them in boxes. Hardly have chance to use unless someone breaks the current mugs I am already using.
Oh ya, sometimes just a gesture that showed the student was listening in class or that he/ she remembered a detail about you, is really touching. I have received gifts that made me almost tear before.
The 10kg sack of rice was one that made everyone laugh v hard in the staff room cos my colleague was draggin it back from the classroom. That showed his students really listened in class, right? And it made such an impact on them. hahaha.
I received a set of toilet brush, rug, kitchen towels, etc kind of tools and accessories before. The student, a girl, wrote in the accompanying card that she will \"work very hard\". Making reference to those tools. That was memorable too.

Like that arh... then plant seed in a small pot and give pot to teacher with message: \"I am but a seed. Your patience and care in nourishing me with your teachings help me grow into someone that will bring joy and sunshine to others. Happy Teachers Day! PS. Don't forget to water me everyday!\".ChiefKiasu:

My fondest memories of presents received are those hand made with love. I still have some of the cards in my storeroom. I especially treasure the ones received from pupils who gave me 'problems' in class. These are the ones
who always surprise me cuz it makes realize that in some way or another, I HAVE made an impact in their lives.
But the most memorable gift received (not on Teacher's Day though) was when I was doing my practicum. I taught Lit to this small class of 10 kids in Sec 3 once a week for abt 2 or 3 weeks. On the day of the last lesson, each of them presented me with something they had created - a card, a montage of appreciative messages, a poem etc .... to let me know how much they had enjoyed my lessons. I was so pleasantly shocked, and it further reinforced the fact that I had made the right decision to pursue my 'calling'.
I still have those stack of cards and messages. I don't think I will ever throw them away
