When I want to check out assessment books, I will ask hubby to look after the 2 fellas and not disturb me for the next 45 min.
Around end Nov, the 20% discount will begin for Popular cardmembers...for every $20, you will get a $1 rebate sticker to be offset at BookFest. I don't quite like to visit BookFest because the place is so big and crowded. But one 20% voucher is insufficient leh.

Hey, I was also recommended to get CL assessment by Cai Yun Fei too...but his/her titles are quite limited. I am planning to get Jiang Xiao Hong, Wen Yuan (Victoria Publications) and Super Scholar for P2.

Yup. This is the one. Unlike other assessment books, the questions are first grouped according to its type: pei ci da pei; kan tu xuan ci; bian zi; biao dian fu hao; tian xie han zi; tian xie yin jie; wan cheng ju zi, etc. In each component, for example, in 'pei ci da pei', there are 20 worksheets, one wosksheet on each ke wen.

I find it very useful when preparing my son for his CA or SA. So maybe in this week, I want him to revise on tian xie han zi, I would then turn to the section and ask him to finish all the questions on tian xie han zi. If he can do all the questions in this section, then I know he should be ok in tian xie han zi. Then I will move to the next component, say, word arranging. Hope you can understand what I am tying to say. Do take a look at this book when you visit popular the next time.

I used to buy the above book.
I agree with PiggyLalala that it is useful for CA/SA preparations and as a supplement book to work on weak areas of Paper 2.
But it is not user-friendly for weekly/topical revision.
You will need to flag all the relevant chapters in the relevant sections. Also need to take a bit of extra time to mark as you need to constantly flip to the correct section and answer section.
Just my opinion, as different strokes for different folks.

I normally do not ask my son to do the assessment books on a weekly basis. Rather, as a last min and not so diligent mom, I will prepare him maybe just a few weeks before CA or SA. By then he would have covered a few ke wen in the school. So what I will do is: I will ask my son to do only the components that will be tested in the CA or SA. If my son can do the component on han yu pin yin, then i know i can move on to other components. If the assessment is grouped on ke wen, to check on my son's han yu pin yin, I need him to go to ke wen 1, do the component on han yu pin yin and then go to ke wen 2 and look for the han yu pin yin again, etc. Marking will then take a longer time as you have to look for the correct component on each ke wen.

Totally agree with teh_oh. This book is not user-friendly for those who do weekly revision with the child as the questions are first grouped according to its type then the ke wen.
