Hi mathsparks. Thank you very much for \"digging\" out such detailed information. The reason for my asking is because MT is my son's Achilles Heel. He simply has no interest in this subject :faint: and is not taking HMT in school.

I think I have gone off-topic in this NJC thread *paiseh*

Hi kuzco, you’re most welcome. No need to paiseh either. A lot of us also ride on certain threads too.

I guess the good thing about our much tweaked education system is that, provisions are made such that kids weak in MT can still have the opportunity to achieve as much as their linguistically inclined peers.

The reply from NJC finally came today "It is compulsory to take either Mother Tongue OR Higher Mother Tongue in NJC."

That sounds like HMT is not compulsory. Interesting, because they made it very clear during the Open House/School Tour briefing that HMT was compulsory. Several parents sought clarification then and they repeated that HMT was compulsory.

Hey Turqoise - your child going to NJC?

Do you know the school year is starting on 11th Jan only?

                Hi Phankao,

No my dd's not going NJC. We went to the Open House because we were quite interested initially. How come their school year's only starting on 11 Jan? Is your child going NJC?

That's because the JC school year starts later. Next year HCI will also start 11 Jan.

                        Hi,

Are there any parents with older children in NJC? I would like to know how is the appeal process to NJC and last year does anyone know what was the COP likely to be accepted with appeal ?

We are at 256, 3 points from 259 and not sure if this year COP will inc or decrease. NJC is admitting 200 students this yr as compared to 150 last year. Looks like a better chance, but still not sure if 3 pts is too away. Please advice if u have any experience :?:
