I think NJC in \"delaying\" their selection camp has already \"eliminated\" a group of applicants who have received COs from their preferred schools. As such, they can be sure those they provided COs are sincere in wanting to get into their school
Each school wants to attract the best and maintain their standard, so they will act in whichever way they think is appropriate for the benefit of the school.
      Pen88n,

spot on, that is what I feel too. It was the same last year and previous years for NJC. Other more prestigious schools will issue early, and with their long WL, they have no problems with enticing the top students.

I am quite surprised by the emotional hype by parents who are still waiting for letter of confirmation. I think if we want to play this DSA option, we have to accept each and every school's own rules and choices. There will always be some rule or timing that someone is not comfortable with. Dont forget, their interview and camp schedule was around late Aug as well, even after most of the COs were given by most other IP schools.

NJC simply want to ensure that most of the COs given are genuine applicants who will want to go NJC, hence the usual late late show on the letter. Last year, DS also got his CO letter around 5 Sept.
Seeing how the weekend is just over, and they started mailing the letters end of last week, I think more parents can expect to receive NJC letters by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Already long necked, what's a day or two more ? Moreover, this is not suppose to be the main entrance avenue, the PSLE is. The DSA is just a bonus or shortcut.

But I hope some more parents' emotions will turn from being frustrated to joy in the next 2 days. Good luck 🆒

Yes I really will like to know whether is it \"legal\" for them to do away with WL? Plain inefficiency. Does that mean we have to call MOE?

I was joking with a parent that when the kids go to NJC and are not able to meet their deadlines. They can always say it's okay - neither did NJC! LOL!
agree that parents concerned should bring the matter to MOE's attention, perhaps not on the 'WL' issue but on the issue that NJC did not keep to MOE's deadline of informing parents (regardless of CO or Rej) by 03 sep!

03 sep should not be the last day for schools to send out their replies (for snail mails) but should be the last day for parents to receive their replies!

so if NJC had to send out their letters late due to some reasons, they should at least send emails/SMSes to the applicants by 03 sep!

it is up to the individual school to determine how they administer the DSA process

if NJC have mailed the CO by last Friday, they have adhered to MOE guideline of by when the DSA result would be made known

there is no rule that they must have a waiting list

there is no rule that every candidate must receive a reply

some parents have noticed that NJC's test and interview is the last among all IP schools - to the extent that most other IP schools had already released their DSA results - success or otherwise --- in order to filter out those who are not genuine NJC applicants.......if such is the thinking, then it is a subtle unspoken confirmation of a 'second-class' mentality thinking that NJC is only a second choice / no-choice's choice ......

I hope NJC does not think this way

ok. do I see some stones coming my direction ? 🦆 :siam:

I really do not think it is \"inappropriate\" for a school not to issue WL - I believe there are sch that does not issue WL (eg. does anyone know if VS has a WL? I've not heard of a WL offer from VS yet!)

Same as NJC, there is no waitlist for 2011 DSA for Victoria-Cedar Alliance (VCA) integrated programme (IP).

              17. When will I know the outcome of my application to each school?

You should receive a note from the school informing you of the outcome of your application during the Selection Stage by 2 September 2011. The letter will clearly state if you have been given a Confirmed Offer, or been put on the Waiting List, or that you are unsuccessful. If you have been placed on the Waiting List or given a Confirmed Offer in at least one school, you will receive a School Preference Form on 24 October 2011 after your PSLE examinations. You will have to make your preferences (maximum of 3 preferences) from 24 to 28 October 2011.

It clearly stated that the outcome should be received by 2 Sept not mailed out on 2Sept. I personally think that they have flouted the rules!

Hi Brenda, after a long wait, we finally received the rejection letter from DHS. So our only choice is to a accept the co from VS ( VCA IP) though my son prefer DHS, but I think VS should be a good enough school for him. Good luck to those still waiting for NJC and DHS reply and congrats to those already got co. Regards.

                Hi rylee,
:congrats: to you & DS on your DS's CO from VS.

Agree fully that they have flouted the MOE regulation since the rejection letters were not even sent out yet by yesterday 5/9/11/.

My son has received a CO from NJC last Fri. The wait was definitely agonizing. The letter says that they have adopted a very stringent selection criteria. I understand from the school that all successful candidates would have received the COs by last Sat. Apparrently the delay for releasing the results was due to the fact that all the papers were sent to Australia for marking. Agree that they should have sent out all sucessful and rejection letters at the same time.

:congrats: Dnls_mum & DS on CO from NJC. :rahrah:
