i was under the impression that DesertWind's \"new PAP\" supporters refer to the newly minted Spore citizens, no? :?
Hi schweppes,
No, I don't mean the new Spore citizens. This term \"new-PAP\" was used in a newspaper article writing about the recent PE2011 and referring to TCB campaign and its supporters.
Thanks for the clarification DesertWind. Must have missed that write-up in the papers.
DesertWind:
eh... this one don't have to elaborate
Those who voted for TCB were mainly PAP supporters but instead of voting for TT, chose to vote for TCB instead. The so-called \"new-PAP\" as I understand it means someone like TCB who was long-time PAP member but vocal, not afraid to speak up, will vote against party policies if he deems fit and most importantly, having the HEART for Singaporeans. Having the soft-touch instead of just using the mind like the \"old-PAP\" (I don't want to elaborate on this).

Got it. Thanks W2G
I could be wrong.schweppes:

But my reading is she meant new-PAP supporter n not new PAP supporter.

those who are the "new PAP" from within the party should just openly walk out and form a new party and would probably win more votes any time
-
DesertWind:
Thx Desertwind. I missed d article.
Hi Way2Go,
This \"new-PAP\" was used to describe TCB and the type of President/Government that his supporters hope to see.
I am not sure whether we now have a \"new-PAP\". But it is something that people like us hope to see going forward.
Interestingly d 3 gentlemen vk2010 mentioned were 'seen' to belong to ESM GCT's \"faction\".
Starting from 2006 to GE2011, all three were sidelined.
Dat \"faction\", if it represents d new-PAP, is now severely weakened. -

d tipping point has not been reached yet.
Those who continue to toe d line r well taken care of.
Actually, TCB's 'plight' is an example. -

some were sidelined due to non-performance
some were sidelined due to skull too thick that public outcries on bad policies were not heard -
verykiasu2010:
So GY falls into one of these categories
some were sidelined due to ideological differences
some were sidelined due to non-performance
some were sidelined due to skull too thick that public outcries on bad policies were not heard
or was he collateral damage in GE2011? -
Way2GO:
if they could move Lim Swee Say from Bukit Timah - Holland to the East, why could't they move GY if there is a need to 'save' him; or PAP/LHL really thought GY could save his GRC......no doubt he polled more than 50% but was pulled down by other team members

the GRC system is a two-edged sword now -

Good point.

Whether GY wins or loses in Aljunied, it's win-win for LHL tactically, yes?
Agree on \"the GRC system is a two-edged sword\".
How some would hv thot d dominant party had suddenly turned magnanimous
in reducing the GRC size, increasing SMCs n NCMPs in GE2011.
-
Way2GO:
looking at it positively, the process and the system is maturing alongside the electorate
