      James Ang:
This question is from a neighbourhood school prelims.

      P6 Math
Leslie bought some sweets and gave 2/3 of it to Alan. Alan bought some chocolates and gave 2/3 of it to Leslie. Leslie ate 6 chocolates and Alan ate 6 sweets. The ratio of Leslie's chocolates to sweets become 2:1 and the ratio of Alan's chocolates to sweets is 4:5. How many chocolates did Alan buy? (5 marks)
      Just curious to know,
How did your dd/ds solve the above question? model or algebra?
Also how many of your dd/ds solve all the maths questions by model only? Do you teach them solve by algebra?
Hope to hear from the parents here. Thank you.

All the best to your DD/DS in the coming PSLE.

            Hi mummies,

Today is the last day for this term and hopefully the teacher can give some other school prelim papers for homework during these 4 days otherwise we have to depend on ourselves!

                  Hi Brenda,

I think we will try to clear the sci and math paper first.

How did your dd fair for rgps section c yesterday? was it a tough paper?

                  Cheers,
                  Leanne

I have to draw models to solve, show and explain to P6 students how it can be done. Drawing a nice and suitable model requires skill, practice and patience, and students are taught to draw models from P1.

If the same question is tested in sec level, then algebra (simultaneous equations) will do fine.

Q17 is quite tough and she KIV this question! The rest of the question she has no problem! 😄
