Hi Leanne,
Given that maths is your DS's forte, don't think it's because your DS is lousy la....keke.... šŸ˜‰

Hi hashroop,

Hi Brenda,

You are doing topical English revision for your dd.

Ds fav is English, so he doesnt get a chance to do it unless he has completed the rest of the task.
S and T is an impt session.

I guess meantime, I think most impt is stay healthy.

Cheers,
Leanne

Hi Brenda,

I like the way u put it, english as a sweet dessert.

Ok, will take note of question 17.Most likely, ds will sit down and try this paper tomolo.

Cheers,
Leanne

Hi Leanne

Haha, I like to group section like \"Grammar\" or \"S&T\" etc and one time clear about 5 - 6 sets so as to check what is the likely problem that she will overlook! šŸ˜‚

James Ang:

Only 2 students got it right in the school prelims.

Usually under normal circumstances and the kid has been exposed to this question before, they can do, Under prelim sometimes stress, so they may be a little panicky or careless, or misinterpret some info, and ended up losing some marks.

Hi pen88n,
I totally agree. Just pray it doesn't happen in PSLE...keke šŸ™
This question is from a neighbourhood school prelims.

P6 Math
Leslie bought some sweets and gave 2/3 of it to Alan. Alan bought some chocolates and gave 2/3 of it to Leslie. Leslie ate 6 chocolates and Alan ate 6 sweets. The ratio of Leslie's chocolates to sweets become 2:1 and the ratio of Alan's chocolates to sweets is 4:5. How many chocolates did Alan buy?Ā (5 marks)

Just curious to know,
How did your dd/ds solve the above question? model or algebra?
Also how many of your dd/ds solve all the maths questions by model only? Do you teach them solve by algebra?
Hope to hear from the parents here. Thank you.

All the best to your DD/DS in the coming PSLE.

Hi PiggyLalala,
DD solved the above question with models. She finds it easier to visualise this question with the aid of a model. šŸ˜‚

However, she usually prefers to use the unit transfer method and simultaneous equation to solve most of her maths questions. She thinks it's faster than drawing models.

What about your DD/DS? What does he/she prefer?
Thank you for yr reply. My ds used the unit transfer method and simultaneous equations to solve the maths questions too. Is this the way that most schools use to solve the questions?

I think most schs teach their students to solve maths questions using models, unit transfer & simultaneous equations. The kids can choose any method they're comfortable with. Some students who are comfortable with algebra will also use that method. šŸ˜‚
