Q&A - P1 Chinese
-
mummy of 2:
DS also likes Chinese as we speak mainly mandarin at home. There's an article in straits times today on how teachers will assess the kids by listening to their conversation as part of the new curriculum. Looks like spoken language will be given higher weightage. But still think it's impt to read and recognize the characters. Have to start coaching DS on han yu pin yin as his school doesn't teach it at all.
Oh, which section of THE STRAITS TIMES? have no time to flip the paper this morning!

Main section page a7

I think the changes were announced previously. Now starting on the implementation.
-
Yup, I attended one enrichment talk earlier this yr about the changes. Will wait for the P1 orientation to find out how the school will implement it.

janet_lee88:
Janet,
Gave away son's P2 Chinese textbooks as daughter doesn't use HCL, or else can compare... :stupid:
I ever compared the two versions. The HCL textbook has only one extra section more than the Normal CL textbook - 深广 at the end of each chapter. So, I got the HCL version for my kids instead. -
Implementing changes so fast? I thought it was scheduled for 2013?
So glad to know there are more kids who like and enjoy learning Chinese nowadays. My kids enjoy Chinese greatly too. :rahrah:poppy15:
That is a lot of Chinese that your son's kindy is covering. I can't remember my son's kindy doing as much. As a matter of fact, I don't think I saw him do any Chinese kindy homework except for one Chinese book review. But Berries covered most of what you mentioned. Your son is in a good kindy. Or has that become the norm? :roll:js saw DS's 教学大纲
they have 书写汉字,学习句子,学习听写,学习填充,学习看图造句,学习组词成句,学习词语配对, 学习理解问答, 学习看图说故事.. :yikes:
and many more...
in my time... if i remember correctly... where got so much to learn in K2 one... :faint: -

Last year, her kindergarten also covered more or less the same syllabus... I am glad that the kindergarten covered these because in P1, she's not so lost... -
