I have always wondered given the small size of this island, we still do not 'bump' into classmates for the past 30-40 years :?

proof that we are after all not too crowded

even in a plane we may not bump into each other if board at different time and different cabin ...... [/quote]too crowded to notice the familiar face

Just has an extremely enjoyable retro Indian barber haircut at Beauty World Plaza.

I was a bit hesitant to enter the shop at first as it's been donkey years since I last went to one of these traditional barber shop. Just before I sat, there was this big white pillow on the seat and the barber was patting it so that I can sit comfortably. Super retro man!

Everything from the bulky seat, to the traditional non-electric razor (yes I saw the black belt thingy used for sharpening the razors too), the shaving cream, the mandatory neck crack, the back massage, the facial tower and finally, the Indian oil. Even the tiles used to decorate the walls of the shop are those traditonal white squarish 70ish ones.

Really brought back the memories. The only thing I didn't do - which my dad used to do - was to get my nostril hair trim. I thought that would be pushing it too much. πŸ˜‚

All in all, within that short 15 min of interaction, I really felt the personal touch. The barber looked to me that he really took pride in my satisfaction. Nowadays, with everything being so commercialised, I hardly get that kind of feeling anymore.

I'm contemplating to bring ds there for haircut too. So that when he grows old (like me), he can also reminisce about the good-old-days.
