Not trying to score points here...but after the brief meeting with VP, I believe the school still has a warm heart.

Meaning next year P5 will hv a better programme with better quality food cum sufficient qty? :rahrah: first.

Meaning to say next year's P5 may be allowed to have some contact time with parents on 2nd night.
Do not let your kids bring any snacks from home...they will be made to throw away  No 2nd servings are allowed...so even though your kids are very hungry after the exhausting activities, that portion is all they will get.

BTW, is it common to have no homework for Sept hols? dh was asking if it's the lull before the storm... r we expected to use this term to gear up for year end exams (for > p2)? thanks!

They are usually not spared chinese hw. Every hols, the kids need to do a 小书.

How about having Ritz hotel chefs serving food under your account ? or perhaps nice smelling toilets and top of the range mattress as well ?

Yeah, for ds, he has to complete EL creative writing, CL book review and a Maths worksheet during this week hols.

Very true. My boy was involved in at least 5 fights in sch last year. More than 1 time changed seating position. Now in a better class, no such incidence ( :xedfingers: ).

Your ds was so likeable during the BBQ nite. My ds was having so much fun playing with him.

Really can't imagine him getting into any fight.

Everytime he was being provoked. Dun see him so small sized, his punches are strong.

Some boys are really too playful. Walk to his table to take his stationery. Purposely sit next to him on the sch bus, then took a sharp stick to poke him. Sit in the sch hall behind him and called him names. He's the \"cant be disturbed type\". Play nice to him and he will treat u nice too.

The Mid Autumn festival day he used my money to buy a corn cup and asked for an extra soup. I thought it was for me. Ended up he shared the corn cup with a schmate, not his dear mummy
my family & I went to the mid-autumn celebration for the first time this yr. spent quite a lot of money for the games and food too. didn't see you or your boy...

Our approach is different from Funx3. Her daughter is conscientious and smart and hence she can take it easy :imcool: . It was different for my boys. They did not \"wakeup\" until late P5 or even P6. No talent and hence no DSA. Just sheer hard work for the boys and :rahrah: and :hugs: and :spank: from the parents πŸ˜„ .

Except for the :spank: with tons of nagging n lectures, my boy instead if waking up..he is falling asleep!! 😒 How? Learning attitude getting fr bad to worse.. Sloppy jobs done... Can't be bothered attitude.. All these started since he started P3.. :faint:
I think P3 & P5 is a big leap in terms of expectation (AM session) and work load. Some feel it more keenly than others. My boys will come back with \"Er... I think there is no hw\" but when I say \"r u sure?\" then they'll say \"er... but let me call someone to confirm\" or \"I think I lost my XX book\". Perhaps that is their way of escape or not coping.

It got tougher when P5s have to stay back twice a week for supp classes. You could see their dejected looks. Then came bad results. That was when we asked them which sec school they want to see themselves in and we will work with them to achieve that dream. We also told them that parents cannot make that dream school happen for them, unlike buying a toy. They've got to want to work hard. So, the choice was theirs. In our case, until they were willing to take ownership of their studies, it was just an uphill task to get them to work hard.

Take heart, your ds still has time to \"fall down\" and \"wake up\". Don't be afraid to let them falter, they will turn up a stronger young boy/man after that.
Thanks Bocmark! Will keep your words in mind!

Btw, can check with you parents hor..if your kid came home and said something vulgar out of the blue and had no idea wat that phrase means cos he heard another older kid in sch used tat word a couple of times loudly in the cafeteria...what would u do?

Write a \"love letter\" to the teacher in charge of student welfare. Off hand I cant recall the email of this teacher. Think last year I wrote to her regarding safety on sch buses. Within the same week, she called me back.

Will go find out who tat teacher is...thanks!

Maybe he is not used to the morning session routine? What time does he sleep at night? Any afternoon naps?

Mine was like that too until I enforced afternoon naps.

Before we attribute sloppy stds to attitude issues, we must first eliminate health related issues. JMHO

I ensure he has enuf sleep time...he goes to bed not later than 9.30 ...even when he used to be in afternoon sessions, he also goes to bed not later than 10 cos he needs to wake up early since I go to work v early..

It is his attitude lah..now he can say I dun care! :faint:
