hot:
you can try your luck to ask if there are any specialty they are looking for.
1.when suggesting to call up school to check on the opening application for PV, what should ask beside checking on opening date for PV?
not sure if they will tell you the intake nos (PV and cohort) if you ask.
basically, ask anything you wish to know...they may or may not entertain you.hot:
by MOE's guidelines, but some schools open up the PV application earlier. Call to check.2.PV application for Yr2011 registration on 1st Jul to 30th Jun 2010 for most schools? Rite?
hot:
I will be calling if I am you.3.When is the best time to call schools for PV application? And
should I send in my letter seeking for PV now and call school for PV application at the same time? Or should I just wait for opening for PV application from School?
You can write and then follow up by a call. If it is too early, just resend the application when the time comes.hot:
it is more appropriate to discuss the above at the related threads.4.I am resiting at Taman Jurong. I am looking at:
Jurong Primary (>2km)
Pricess Elizabeth Pri (>2km)
Rulang Pri (<2km)
Shuqun Pri (<2km>2km)
Fuhua (<2km>3km)
Keming (>3km)
My parents at Jurong East:
Jurong Primary (<2km)
Princess Elizabeth Pri (<2km)
Yuhua (<1km)
Fuhua (<2km>3km)
Keming (>3km)
Any mummies have experienced with the above schools to share some tips of how to get in as PV? Any suggestions on how to get selected? Anyone know what sorts of skill they are looking for?

some schools listed above are not popular and hence need not pv to get in - see the past year stats available at the related threads for reference.
some schools do not accept pvs - like Princess Ehot:
that is why it is wiser to check out the stats of past year's balloting history for Phase 2B for your school of choice (look at the related threads listed above). unsuccessful applicants of Phase 2B in general does not have priority in Phase 2C - priority in phase 2C is by distance bracket. however in cases where one Phase 2B pv parent is unsuccessful in balloting during Phase 2B but at Phase 2C, someone from earlier phases withdraw from the school, i am not sure if the school will give that one unsuccessful phase 2B parent the priority over Phase 2C applicants - anyone?5.I need to gauge what is the chance: if I am a PV and staying out of 1km from Rulang Pri and Shuqun Pri? If I cant get in at phase 2B, do I still stand a chance at phase 2c?
hot:
read up the related threads on the stats.6.What is my chance if I am not a PV, but apply with my parentsโ address (<2km) to Jurong Primary and Princess E. Pri? If I cant get in at phase 2B, do I still stand a chance at phase 2c?
i am pretty sure that for Princess E, there is no PV programme and for Phase 2C, chances for more than 1km applicants is very very very slim - ie less than 1km already need to ballot.hot:
read up the balloting stats at the related thread.7.Do I need to apply PV for Yuhua, Keming and Fuhua?
hot:
you can if you want to.8.Being KS, should I also send PV letter to Xingnam and West Grove?

hot:
you can get better response http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=476.9.Long before the registration must I submit the grandparentsโ addy for MOE statutory declaration?
hot:
not sure about Qifa, but Keming is pretty popular and there must be some strengths for their popularity - read more at the thread.10.I am considering a few schools outside Jurong East and Jurong West. Are Qifa and Keming a good choice?
hot:
no comments....11.Anyone has experienced with Lakeside Pri school? It is the only school that is within 1km from my house. Noticed it has 100% take up rate in 2009. Does it mean I can consider this school? I could not find much information about this school.
in general, i think you should try to read http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3311 first.
if you post at the related topic thread, you may get faster response.

Hi hot!
Seems to me that you are targetting all the schools in Jurong except Lakeside Primary School.
Why donโt you take a step back and consider what type of school you would like your child to be in. For instance, you mentioned you "prefer a school that is at mid range level eg. Jurong Pri, as I do not want my kid to have too much pressure and too many homework to do. But surrounding my area, I cannot any such school!". Besides your so-called "mid range level", what are other important factors?
Once you identify the factors, you should be able to narrow the number of schools. Only then will you be able to concentrate on the shortlisted schools. What you are doing currently is like stabbing in the dark.
My two cents, for your consideration. -
Hi Hot,
Suggest you study the past balloting history & also try to learn more about the schools. At least can narrow now your search & deciding which one to do PV or use parents' address.
From now to May/June 2010 about 9-10 months for you to do research where I guess should be more than enough. I took almost 6 months to learn the entire P1 system.
Based on your current method seem like very stressful & :stupid:
My 2.5 cents worth only.

Hi there, was wondering :? . i am currently staying in Jurong West and I have applied to do a PV at Henry Park. So far havent heard from them but I know that they will be informing parents in October.
Are they going to consider the house distance as well when they shortlist you to do PV ? -
chixchix:
Hmm... not too sure... I just know that HPPS is restricting on its PV intake as it doesnt want disappointed PVs not getting a place during 2B. So now they only accept less than 30 PVs per batch I think...Hi there, was wondering :? . i am currently staying in Jurong West and I have applied to do a PV at Henry Park. Hi chixchix!
Actually, even if the school doesn't consider the distance when it shortlist PV applicants, you should also do your sums. Are you willing to \"swallow\" it if your child is balloted out of the school despite you having spent hours performing PV work? There is always this possibility.
So, perhaps you should have a backup plan.
