I have a long list of good books in my blog :

All available at the library. The popular ones may be on long term loan, you need to reserve for them.

Read and read and read. But when reading u must make sure ur children understands the words and learn them in the process.

I'd borrowed several of chinese composition books from library for past few mnths and jotted down alot of interesting sentences with idioms on an exercise book. Make sure my kids memorise a few of them per day so that they know how to write a proper composition. Hopefully it helps. 🙂

                Hi kiasuadults and concerned1970,

Thanks for the idea! Jotting down the interesting sentences is a very good way. But sometimes, it’s quite difficult for my kids to link one sentences with another sentences…

                  Hi allseasons,

Sry for late reply! Read the model compositions together with your kids. Luckily, there are quite alot of chinese composition books for borrowing unlike english ones…

Note that the model compositions from China may be fake, which means that the compositions may not be written by the tops students. I have read an educational expert who warns parents against using them.

I highly recommend reading 杨红樱 books instead. Her books are beautifully written, and every page is far better than any model composition. 杨红樱 is currently the richest author in China. Both my kids enjoy reading her books. In fact, I don’t even need to teach my girl to write Chinese compositions, she naturally knows how to write well because she has been reading regularly.
