      Hi

After reading this thread I'm kinda keen to try MPM for my DD. She's now with CMA but not progressing as well as I thought she should. She's going to P1 next year. Is it too late to enroll her into MPM? Looks like most kids here started when they were in K1 or K2.

Also, which branch in Woodlands/ Sembawang/Yishun area is good? Many parents have asked but no feedbacks yet. Do share if anyone has any recommendations for the North side. Thanks!!! šŸ˜„

Hi, my daughter also attended CMA and I also find it not helpful. Now she has been with MPM since Mar but I do not see any improvement too. I felt that if they ate weak I’m Maths, MPM will not help as they will not stop to make sure u know the syllabus. They will keep getting ur child work on the books.

I just went to check the MPM website for the class location. Does anyone know why some locations have a \"bear\" logo and some only have the \"bird\" logo? Are those with \"bear\" logo their district headquarters? (only my guess....). Just curious about it and can't find it anywhere on their webpage that explains why. :scratchhead:

                Hi soursop

Bear - Jelic class (meant for preschoolers)
Bird - MPM Maths (can start from 5yo)

Mine too drop from CMA (2 1/2 yrs there), and now join MPM, however, I do realised CMA does help on his MPM. As he seldom uses fingers to count the no. which I saw some children doing it in MPM.

This is how I view MPM. It will not strengthen maths foundation. It's to train the brain to think in a certain manner.

yes you are correct. MPM does not strengthen maths foundation. Many a times, parents are really confuse with what they are signing up for. MPM only train you on the thinking skill and looking out for patterns in a question. If you are interested in MOE curriculum maths, then sign up for tuition class.

My boy is k1 but he is doing k2 MPM materials, in it there are number bonding exercises. Luckily he was taught number bond in his CC, as such he knows how to do it in MPM, otherwise it is quite impossible that he knows what to do in his MPM class.

                      yup. :hi5:

It's very important parents know what the enrichment will accomplish. If want that area to be trained then sign up.

CMA can get quite dry for the kids, because it is practise and practise and practise...

I would say 1 year is too short to see much benefits for CMA, unless the child is very diligent and fast in going through the grades.

My DD (P1) doesn't like her CMA as much as MPM, but she admitted that CMA is actually more useful. MPM can be a bit too easy..., but it has a way of teaching concepts (an example quoted by DD was on multiplication and division). CMA also teaches multiplication, but it is more memory work (i.e. need to know the time-table well) while MPM will gradually show the concept (i.e. show what multiplication and division is in fact all about).

So between CMA and MPM, we have decided to drop MPM...

P/S: We did the end part of MPM K2 work in T3 last year. I found those workbooks not bad. Worth trying out and see for yourself.
