      My Tuition Haven
      last edited by

Rates vary according to the level of the child and qualifications of the teacher. I have had many of my students’ parents tell me ‘horror’ stories of tutors who had previously taught their children and this is mostly from my P6 students. Some tutors make a lot of empty promises (the best one I have heard is that she could get the questions for the child’s Prelim exams) and charge ridiculous fees ($80 p/hr). Strangely enough (well to me anyway) the parents paid the tutor the fee for a few months without checking her certificates. It was only when the tutor started missing lessons that she she decided to stop.

I advise all parents to check the certificates of all tutors claiming to be NIE-trained teachers. Parents pay extra for such teachers because we have taught the syllabus, set exam papers and marked countless exam papers. We know the common errors and in which areas we need to focus on to make sure that the children improve in their results.

So be vigilant about who you get :smile

                Hi,

I am looking for a good chinese teacher for P2 std. I stay in Novena area. I just took my girl out of a chinese centre as her chinese std is below the rest of the class and it is hard for her to keep up. She needs individual coaching. Anyone has any suggestions?

dd is in sec 1 and attends chuangxin school of education at balmoral plaza. she is not that great in chinese and for the first half of the year, she did a one to one with the teacher and she managed to pass her papers (not a or b). her teacher in school (who has been keeping an eye on her) is very happy with her performance. now her tutor has put her in a group and so far okay.

ds (primary 1) was there for a short period but he prefers to have tuition at home (unfortunately the teachers there are unable to give private tuition) so pull him out but he attends their holiday programmes as and when he is free.

you can have a talk with the principal and see what she can do for you. the no. is 6887 0111
