Hi vk2010, DH is planning a long trip to USA in Dec and we may return to S'pore just before Christmas. DS has gotten COs from RI & HCI but he will be accepting CO from RI. Understand that RI (and all sec schools) will hold their Registration Day one day after S1 posting, which will be some time 3rd week of Dec. May i ask if there is any serious consequence if DS can't make it home on time to attend the RI Registration Day? DS is very worried (me too) that RI may withdraw his CO and he might not go to his dream school in the end (thanks to his daddy). please advice what DS should do? thanks in advance!
Hi firefly. RI will not withdraw its CO. Don't worry. But it's best if your son could attend registration day as there'll be forms to fill up, briefings etc. -

Actually the registration day though is administrative but is a memorable day for the boys getting to do all the stuff....the boys will have fun getting to see old faces etc etcfirefly38:

don't think there is any regulation on min attendance but the kids won't be idle in school either, there will be meaningful activities ..... they will never walk the same journey again .... why deprive them ?
But is there any such thing as minimum attendance? So far DS has very good attendance hardly missed one or 2 days for the whole year. But what I mean is, will the holiday we are planning in term 4 cause a serious shortage of attendance? What is the impact of shortage of attendance?
they will have good memories with their buddies and classmates post-PSLE
the year end school holiday is long enough after the official closing and graduation ceremony that the kids should not miss -

Firefly,
I wrote to MOE and they have given me the following dates:
School posting - 21 Dec
Report to school - 22 Dec
These dates are actually a day earlier than last yr. They told me that we shd nominate a proxy if DS cannot personally report to the sec school. If you are not back by 22nd, just nominate a proxy.
Hope this helps -

MOE told me that results will be out between 24-28 Dec. They don't normally release over the weekend. My bet is on 24th. See my earlier post for the school posting dates. These were given by MOE in an email. Shd be quite accurate even though they say tentative. It took some persuasion for them to release the dates.
Wow.. if that is the case, it would be good. Hopefully we can know the dates earlier.. easier for planningifahh03:
From P6 teacher, PSLE will be earlier this yr, so the result will also be earlier.

IMHO, try not to miss registration. Don't think they will withdraw CO but why let him miss the first experience with future classmates and the first welcome from P. Besides principal's speech, there should be some activities organized for them. He will also get to know some new friends. when he reports on Day 1 he will be even more at ease. Have you gone bibi baba to buy uniform? Try to go earlier in case no sizes. -

DS is quite disappointed, me too! :sad:jtoh:
