How many year 1 get full exemption this year?
heard it is about 60 -

1E has 8, 1J has 1, 1K has 4 and 1L has 5. That's all I know from what my dd said, some of her friends also gotten full exemption. Quite confused by the system though ever since the addition of A1*.
from my understanding, A1* is 85 and above and equivalent to grade point 5.
so max GPA is 5.
but heard that computation for full exemption is based on max GPA 4. so A1* is not taken into consideration.
i guess this is fairer since exemption should be for all-rounded students. if A1* is used then some students who are very strong in certain subjects but weaker in the rest may achieve full exemption as A1* can pull up their GPA. -

I can infer that this batch year 1 is much stronger academically than all previous batches.WeiHan:

For this Y1 batch, Chinese seems to be the lowest score, both average and also the highest score for Chinese is the lowest among all the subjects.
Either paper is difficult, or marking is strict or the students’ standard is not good enough. The P thinks that the students’ standard is not good enough and he’s determined to raise it.
Talking about Chinese, dd has an interesting Chinese project coming up. They have to interview volunteers/vet who are involved in sterilisation of stray cats. So they’ll go to the void decks to see how the cats are rounded up, taken to the clinic, sterilised…
Then the difficult part: interview in Chinese and write reports etc… -

Do you mean the principal says that their chinese standard is low or the general academic standard is low?For this Y1 batch, Chinese seems to be the lowest score, both average and also the highest score for Chinese is the lowest among all the subjects.

I am not sure also since i don't have full data but I am just infering from available data. 60 getting full exemption is more than double of previous batches if the number is true. In the recent Singapore mathematical olympiad, RV got a 5th position in the junior section (sec1 and 2). As far as i can remember, this is the best result ever. For senior section, RV has attained 3rd position before, however, it was attained with PRC scholars that joined in sec 3. 5th is the best result ever attained solely dependent on the psle intake. -
Hi Weihan, the P said the students’ Chinese standard is not high enough, he didn’t mention the overall academic standard. He was referring to the majority of students, not only the Y1.
