      Callie Tan:
My girl is doing the topic on Time.

My concern is the questions from school are more heuristic in nature... but most of questions in the assessment books are very straight forward. My girl has no problem with the assessment questions but she cannot do the heuristics quesions.

May I know any P1 parent has any assessment books that cover topic by topic but are more heuristic in nature?
      Hi Callie,

I have used the below mentioned books for heuristic methods. They are from Fan math and another book is from Andrew Er.

You can browse through these books in popular to see if they suit for your DD.

Hey Mummies, time to do stock take on what assessment books you will need. BookFest will be held early this year...mid Nov.

Fan Maths is a good start for heuristics as Maths is moving towards this now...esp for upp level. So it's wise to expose the kids to it soon.

Actually I thought of avoiding Bookfest as it is so crowded...but with 7 stickers ($7 rebate), I could get some stationery.

That's for sure...it will not be so simple with 'this' and ' that'. For my son, I'm done with his assessment books. Just left with CL and math for my daughter.
