All that discussion on creative writing leads me to wonder: at what level is appropriate for the child to start taking creative writing lessons? Is creative writing required at P1?

For p1, the test is more like assessment. Overall spelling, recital, show n tell. Will have every term. Not really tests, but we dun get assessment reports

I just received the P1 assessment file. In it, I saw the reports for those show-and-tell as well. DS's Chinese show-and-tell results improved slightly. At least this term didn't show me those grades with only 1 smiley, unlike last term!

Curious to know what is shown on the P1 assessment report... is it marks, or grades (as in A, B, C etc) or smiley faces?

I'm only sociable virtually. I'm quite an aloof person at work.
Not proud of that, but don't really want to change myself either. 🀷
Well at least I know my problem, which is sorta a first step, I guess.
Maybe I just like to talk about my son, so I can talk to anyone non-stop for days if it's on my favourite topic. Thus giving a wrong impression, haha.[/quote]My impression during the bbq of u is someone like a busy bee moving around different groups of people, chatting with anyone and everyone πŸ™‚ Isn't that being sociable? hmm.. unless we've a different definition of 'sociable' here..

Hey janet, i thought the reason u chose not to put ur dd in PH was due to stress level. My ds still flops his cl in the recent assesments, i do wonder if ur dd's sch is tougher than PH... Guess my boy is just as bad in mandarin as i m πŸ˜„

The busy animals we spot are usually spiders :scared: and squirrels. The squirrels are common neighbours who run across my doorsteps all the time. Oh yes, and rabbits too.

Days ago, during school a tiny weeny spider felt on dd1's shoulder and she was totally stiffened. Her teacher and classmates had a good laugh, so do dd1, errrr....after the episode. πŸ˜‚ The school has been great for the kids. Dd1 is in 5th grade, only 11 in the class and she happens to be the youngest (she is supposed to be 4th grader based on her age) and dd2 is in kindergarten with only 9 classmates in a class. Dd2 is getting alittle bored with learning just ABC in class, so is DD1, who complained about doing P3 level compre in 5th grade. Unless the situation gets worse, I think I prefer to leave them at their grades. Not point rushing through the studies as there are many more things to enjoy. πŸ˜‰

Come to speaking, I heard about this way, it works well for many, but both myself and hubby have no discipline on sticking to just 1 language. We speak both, suka suka mandarin, suka suka ang moh. πŸ˜‚
                        What is EDD?

If both of you speak both languages .. then it will be easier right? The kids will get exposure to both languages.
