[Clementi] Primary Schools
-
Hi,
I have a son born in Yr 2007 and hence his P1 registeration is in Yr 2013.
I am a ex student from Clementi Pri Sch and I am staying within 1km from Nan Hua Pri Sch.
Could anyone share with me whether I should try Nan Hua Pri Sch under Phase 2C and hence give up Phase 2A (2) at Clementi Pri Sch?
Anyone care to share more on Clementi Pri Sch? Are the teachers good and dedicated?
Thanks! -
register at your alma mater Clementi primary first. Clinch it safely under 2A first.
the final answer depends on the situation, there and then on actual day itself. Monitor closely.
a) if situation favourable, Nan Hua admin confirmed 100% guarantee no need to ballot for your distance range on actual day, then withdraw from Clementi primary, re-register at Nan Hua.
b) if situation dun even let you have any chance to ballot at Nan Hua, or you still need to ballot for limited vacancies, 2 choices.
either stay put at Clementi, or risk to ballot.
in the event you balloted out, which other contingency school next in your plan?
Clementi primary:-

At this moment, no contingency school based on b). Any feedback on Bukit Timah Pri Sch?
I am submitting my PV for Nan Hua & Pei Hwa Presbterian. But I am staying within 1 to 2km from Pei Hwa so don’t know have the chance to ballot.
From my friend’s P1 enrolment experience this year, I have to really strategize my move. She cried when she failed the balloting under Phase 2C for a neighbourhood school and she is staying within 1km from the school. -

Hi Sand,Looks like there's absolutely no chance of getting into Nanhua if we don't stay w/in 1km right?
PV criteria is super strict. Got rejected twice already. Luckily still can try next year...
Could you share the PV criteria of Nan Hua? \"rejected twice already. Luckily still can try next year\" means parents can try to apply for PV even when child is less than 4yr old? i.e. although PV application for children born in 2007 is closed in June 2012, parenets of children born later than 2007 also can apply in this round?
Thanks! -
Hi my understanding that the PV reqmt is very strict. The school does not 'anyhow' accept PVs unless there is something very specific which the school needs. ie they do not need traffic marshalls or gardeners etc because the schools' got MANY students' SAHM parents who are very involved in the school activities eg learning journey or school functions and readily volunteer their time...hence they don't really need extra help la...which is good, as so that there isn't too many PV to fight for the 2B vacancies..
A few friends I know who got selected for PV were doing the following...
- Creating reading units (Lang expert)
- Providing thinking games during school's Thinking Week (Company boss)
- Creating online portal (IT expert)
- Story telling (bef 7.15am, Lang expert)
A good network with the school/ teachers does help. And after understanding from the sch admin, even if u r accepted for PV but not staying w/in 1km, chances are very very slim cos parents are taking very active roles to ensure of their child's place in NH. U also should be an expert in the area you are volunteering in cos PV is no longer like just doing CIP in the school...I would say it's quite some time and effort spent, but TOTALLY worth it, after seeing with my own eyes what the school, students, teachers are like.
Really, acceptance is a matter of demand from the school. If the school needs your area of specialisation and u happen to write in, Bingo! I submitted my application 3 times before being accepted and went for interview...I spoke to the other PVs and friends tt's how I got to know all this...hope this helps and good luck to you

Thank you sand, for your precious, valuable first hand info.
nowadays is so tough to be selected for a PV.
