 So, it's a blessing in disguise that the school will not be introducing Speech & Drama for P3s next year?

Haha.. yes, to me it's a blessing indeed
The kids will have other things to worry about next year, like SCIENCE!

I totally agreed with you. Wasted the kids time and money in buying the cloth. And in return, we, parents were disappointed with the show.I rather the kids spend time in quality programme.Hi QMS,
Actually i was there last year too and it was equally bad. I thought it was because they were only P1. Now i'm convinced that it's the drama school that's sub standard.
Hopefully, the English department can source a better drama school for next year coming P1 student since they are giving more budget. If other primary schools can produce good drama, i don't believe RMPS cannot do it. -
Precisely, they spent so much time on rehearsal etc and the performance was not up to expectations.... :siam:
My dd told me there were still some changes made one day before the performance and the children were so confused
I remember my dd's kindergarten year-end performance was much more creative and interesting than what we saw on that day.

Actually, for kindergarten year-end performance, the children could practice and rehearse everyday. In primary school, the vendor only comes in once a week. So, perhaps we should not expect too much?
Anyway, I agreed that the school may need to review its selection of vendors. -

I miss both performances due to my travels and from the thread it seems I did not miss much.blue-march:

The vendor was not so good, was it because we as parents need not pay so the school had to get whatever they can with limited $ resources? i know for the chinese one- we had to pay. -

Actually, we paid for the English Speech & Drama, too. Just that we paid via the child's Educare account. You didn't see any outflow of cash, and hence, probably that's why you had the impression we need not pay for it.
As for the Chinese Speech & Drama, we had to pay because the Chinese Dept does not have as big a budget as the English Dept. Hence, the Chinese Dept couldn't offer this program as part of its curriculum. -

It is not the nos of time spent in rehearse which determine how good the perfomance. It is the key person in charge whom determine the outcome of the show. It seem that the key person failed to bring out the standard of the show. I strongly believe every kids of P2 classes has the potiential to come out a good play on the stage. Neverthless, hope this will not happen again to the next year primary 1 & 2.blue-march:

If the kindergarten teachers could be that creative and have the ability to bring out the talents of 5/6 years old (I recalled a K2 concert that really impressed the parents with hand-made props and interesting setting) I don't see why Acropolis Eng Ctr couldn't? and mind you, they should be the experts in this.
Hope Mrs Wong is here to hear our views... -
