      hi buds,

where can i get a Master copy set of syllabus for pre-school Montessori curriculum?

Yes, everytime i go to a Montessori centre to ask, they always reply me the same old thing - 'Oh, Mam! our Montessori curriculum is based on individuals, unlike MOE teaching style. The pace for different kid is different, because each child learns at different pace.' So they don't let me take a peep, even in those expensive, pricey Montessori pre-schools I had visited.

however, overall i would still wish to have a look at the detailed curriculum, so that:-

      a) i can know if my child is learning fast or slow. eg: for M Maths, some kids already started learning addition / mulitplication earlier (although all are K1 kids), whereas some haven't reached, much later then learn..??

ie. if my child is K1, where is he compared to his same age peer group ?
is he learning at average speed, or left far behind, compared to his peers, all within the same age group ?

and then if he is far behind, is there a possibility that come end of K2 entering P1, there are still many topics that my child have not been taught yet ? If Yes, which important topics in particular haven't been touched on yet at all ?

      b) i can know if that particular Montessori centre is genuine.

if i have a Master copy of the Maths pre-school curriculum, by comparing against their curriculum, i'll know whether that school ever do any short cut(s) in curriculum, or if any or many parts missing - is it because this centre only teach concepts in group only, but not individually hands on work ?

Thank you very much buds, for kind advice!
      😄

        Hi,

Does anyone send your child to Genevieve’s Preschool at Goldhill Centre near Novena MRT? It’s also a montessori school and I’m thinking of sending my younger child there? Please PM if you have any feedback, both positive and negative.

        Thanks!

            Hi Yellow Belt,

I paid $380 for 12 sessions of Enrichment at Summer Montessori. You can be absent for 1 class and 1 MC with refund or prorate the next Term. Think they are reasonable and fair. I also heard that they are full house.

            Kimberly.

I am new to this forum.I do agree the teaching method in Montessori. I am eager to find a good reputation montessori CC coz my daughter will enter N2 next year. Now i live in sengkang and later will move in tao payoh. My daughter was bron in 2008 and after one year CC she do not learn too much. So i must let her go to a good montessori. Pls do not recommend the sengkang MMI(some mother had withdrawed coz lazy teacher) and paris ris MMI(very good but long queue). So pls help to recommend other good reputation montessoris. Then i will make a decision that if i need to move to tao payoh or stay in sengkang. I am very appreciated if you can share your experience with me. thanks

                        hi cutebabylucky,

not sure how Montessori childcare centre (cc) runs their Montessori curriculum program differently from a Montessori kindergarten (can be 3 hrs, 3.5 hrs or 4 hrs).

like you - i had the experience putting my child with a so called Montessori cc before, so nowadays i'm bit scared & apprehensive. i don't quite trust Montessori cc.

so far, the few montessori kindergarten that had given me confidence after visiting & exploring (around my area) and after reviewing their students' work are:-

                        a) Lumiere montessori kindergarten (Serangoon).

                        b) Charis montessori kindergarten (Kembangan) - talk to Principal and founder (Roland)

                        c) Totsville montessori (Bishan) - talk to Principal Serene (founder).

do not straightaway enrol yr child into a montessori cc, without checking out the kindergarten first.

perhaps what you can do is ... visit Lumiere and Charis montessori kindergarten first. Gain a perspective first how they teach kids, using the montessori style. Review all their students' school work. Once you understand how the school teach, the approach, the methodology used, then you go back and visit that montessori cc you are interested in, this time. See if it gives you the same kind of confidence level that you had before. if after visiting 1st montessori cc still leaves you highly unsatisfied, then visit 2nd, 3rd, 4th cc, if necessary. With each fresh new visit - you learn more, as you see something new, something different from another perspective.

after doing the necessary ground work, then you decide - based on the curriculum offered, do you want to settle for a montessori cc or a montessori kindergarten ? which do you think - eventually suits your child better, at the end of the day ?

for me, i think put a child in a montessori based kindergarten and then supplement with enrichment (if necessary) for his weak area(s) - is the best. Morning, the child studies in kindergarten. Evening time after sufficient sleep & rest, send the child to enrichment (if is really needed). That way, he or she can get the best moral character good grounding education, and also academic wise, is sufficiently well prepared for P1.

you may read feedback on page 82 shared by a parent (jul04) who had done lots of ground work, by visiting some centres around Toa Payoh (the same area that you're interested in):-
