Barker Road Methodist Church Kindergarten (BRMCK)

I have read the 4 pages on BRMCK, and visited the school. However, I would like to also hear from any current parents with kids attending the school. I am torn whether to switch my kid from SJCK to BRMCK due to conveniency & proximity. From my visit, I kind of gather that BRMCK is pretty academic as compared to SJCK, somehow, the kids look less cheerful as compared to SJCK. Can any helpful parents provide some insights & their own experience of the school please, like the teachers, etc.

could anyone comment on the montessori class at BRMCK? Are the teachers great? How’s the normal curriculum - little info except notice board outside classroom (forgot to take a pix of it)?


will it be too much if sign up for N2 child after 3 hr regular programme?

anyone sees a drastic difference in child after one year? Also, should we continue through k1-k2?

brmck does not teach Di Zi Gui. 弟子规


but 弟子规 is good for moral character development.
the earlier parents start in a child, the better.

some other kindergarten like Magdalene Catholic kindergarten already started 弟子规 in their curriculum. Next yr 2012, Newton church kindergarten also starting 弟子规 likewise:-

unlike 三字经 (San Zi Jin) that has some origin from Taoism, and hence church kindergarten forbid 三字经. However, 弟子规 is all right - 弟子规 got nothing to do with Taoism.

弟子规 actually originates from Confucius 孔子. It teaches young kids filiah piety, etc.

now there are volunteers teaching 弟子规.

Could any parents recommend how to get around the morning drop-off jam? What time should we arrive there for drop-off? How long is the queue usually - by the time u get to drop off your child?


Any other alternatives?

Am just trying to find out the regn system for Barker. Is it true it is by Q system on a specific date? Sometime in April?? I.e. cannot put on waiting list?

No such info on the website. Only got the regn form…

Based on the school's 2012 schedule, reg. date for 2013 intake is 2-5 April 2012. You may contact the school office to confirm the dates. Hope this helps.

Anyone has any feedback on BRMCK Montessori Program? Thinking to sign my kid but would like to hear from any parent which has kids currently in the program.
